Chapter 71: Tavern Battle
The tense atmosphere on the third floor of the Wang family's tavern was shattered as the Yellow Tiger Gang stormed in, surrounding Mu Feng and his group. The gang's menacing presence immediately drew the attention of nearby patrons, their hushed murmurs filling the air.
Confrontation Begins
Mu Feng stepped forward, meeting the gang's leader, Wu Bao, with a calm yet piercing gaze. "You must be the one leading this ruckus. What's your purpose?"
Wu Bao sneered, his eyes filled with disdain. "Teach these brats a lesson! Let them know what happens when they mess with the Yellow Tiger Gang!"
At his signal, the gang members charged forward.
The Battle
"Kill!" Mu Feng shouted, his voice like a war drum. He kicked over the table in front of him, sending dishes and cups flying. The table slammed into the advancing thugs, knocking several to the ground.
"Mu Li, Mu Lan, leave now! Get reinforcements from the family!" Mu Feng ordered sharply.
"But Feng-ge—" Mu Lan began, her voice filled with worry.
"Go! We'll hold them off!" Mu Feng roared, his tone leaving no room for argument.
Reluctantly, Mu Li and the others smashed through a window and leaped to the streets below, their figures disappearing into the night.
Three Against Many
The remaining trio—Mu Feng, Mu Kuang, and Bai Ziyue—stood back to back, facing the gang's overwhelming numbers.
"Scared?" Mu Feng asked with a faint smile.
"Scared? They should be afraid of us!" Bai Ziyue replied coldly, gripping his sword tightly.
"Let's make them regret coming here!" Mu Kuang growled, his blade gleaming ominously.
With a shared battle cry, the three charged into the fray.
Mu Feng's Fury
Mu Feng's fists became a blur as he unleashed the full force of his cultivation. "Tongmai Fist!" he shouted, his punches creating shockwaves that sent gang members flying. Each strike was precise and devastating, leaving his enemies groaning on the floor.
One thug swung his sword at Mu Feng, but he sidestepped effortlessly and countered with a golden energy-infused finger strike. The thug collapsed instantly, a bloody hole in his chest.
Bai Ziyue's Precision
Bai Ziyue's swordsmanship was a dance of death. His blade flashed like lightning, each movement elegant yet lethal. "Phantom Sword Technique!" he cried, his sword creating ghostly afterimages. Within moments, three gang members fell, their chests pierced by his precise strikes.
Mu Kuang's Power
Mu Kuang wielded his heavy blade with brute strength, cleaving through his opponents with terrifying efficiency. His battle cries echoed through the tavern as he swung his blade in wide arcs, forcing his enemies to retreat. "Breakwater Slash!" he roared, unleashing a powerful energy wave that sent several thugs crashing into the walls.
The Turning Point
Despite the trio's valiant efforts, the gang's sheer numbers began to take their toll. Wu Bao stepped forward, his aura flaring as he prepared to join the fray. "Enough games! I'll handle this myself," he growled, his voice dripping with menace.
With a roar, Wu Bao unleashed a fiery palm strike. "Flame Palm!" he bellowed, a wave of scorching energy shooting toward Mu Kuang.
Mu Kuang barely had time to raise his blade in defense. The fiery attack slammed into him, sending him crashing into a wall. Blood spurted from his mouth as he slumped to the floor, his body trembling from the force of the blow.
"Kuang-ge!" Bai Ziyue shouted, his voice filled with worry.
Mu Feng's Resolve
Mu Feng's eyes burned with fury as he stepped between Wu Bao and his fallen friend. "You've made a grave mistake," he said coldly, his aura intensifying.
Wu Bao sneered. "You're strong, boy, but strength alone won't save you."
Mu Feng's lips curled into a smirk. "Let's see about that."
With a burst of speed, Mu Feng closed the distance between them, his fists glowing with golden energy. "Heavenly Strike!" he roared, delivering a punch that collided with Wu Bao's fiery palm. The resulting shockwave shook the tavern, shattering nearby tables and windows.
The patrons fled in panic, leaving the battlefield to the combatants.
The Final Clash
Wu Bao staggered back, blood trickling from the corner of his mouth. "You… How is this possible?"
Mu Feng didn't respond. Instead, he launched a relentless assault, each strike aimed with surgical precision. Wu Bao fought back desperately, but it was clear he was outmatched.
With a final, thunderous blow, Mu Feng sent Wu Bao crashing through the tavern's wall and into the street outside. The gang leader lay motionless, his body battered and broken.
Victory
The remaining gang members, seeing their leader defeated, dropped their weapons and fled. Mu Feng exhaled deeply, his shoulders relaxing as the adrenaline began to fade.
Bai Ziyue and Mu Kuang approached, both battered but still standing. "We did it," Bai Ziyue said, his voice tinged with relief.
Mu Feng nodded. "For now. Let's hope reinforcements arrive soon."
As the three stood amidst the wreckage, their bond as brothers in arms grew stronger. Together, they had faced overwhelming odds—and emerged victorious.
