"This 'dark magic' must be purged!" Zephyr said. The study fell into a tense silence, broken only by his furious strides. Ralph and Otsanna exchanged worried glances.
"Young Alpha," Otsanna's voice cut through the air, sharp and resolute. "This is no sorcery. It's a true mate bond. Your stubborn denial has likely sabotaged the natural rejection process." She needed to shatter his delusion, however painful the truth.
Zephyr whirled, his eyes blazing. "She appeared from nowhere!"
"The Shadow Weaver gave us a clue, My Alpha!" Otsanna countered.
"She fell off a cliff and rode the currents? Unscathed?" Zephyr scoffed.
"It's the only explanation," Ralph affirmed, his tone firm.
"There must be something that can be done to break the bond!" Zephyr wanted to know.
The unwanted pull towards Selene was driving him mad and eroding his carefully constructed calm.
"Alpha-mate bonds can be very strong. We could attempt the Holy Ground rejection," Otsanna suggested, her expression grave.
"Mates? Rejection? What in the moon's name is happening?" Luna Vilka's voice echoed through the room, her presence demanding answers.
Zephyr, Ralph, and Otsanna turned to face her. "Luna Vilka," Otsanna bowed respectfully, a gesture reciprocated by the Luna.
"Otsanna," Vilka acknowledged, then fixed her gaze on her son and his Beta. "I will not be kept in the dark. Explain yourselves!"
"You shouldn't have entered without knocking," Zephyr snapped, his tone laced with a raw edge.
"The door was open!" Vilka retorted, surprised by her son's uncharacteristic hostility.
"That doesn't-" Zephyr began, his voice rising, but Vilka cut him off.
"Don't speak to me in that tone! I am your mother!" Vilka's voice trembled, a mix of anger and bewilderment. "What has possessed you?"
An uncomfortable silence descended.
With a mask of frustration, Zephyr turned to Ralph. "I'll escort Otsanna. Explain everything to my mother."
Otsanna bowed before following Zephyr out.
"Before the sunset, you and your mate must be in my shrine," Otsanna instructed, her gaze unwavering.
Zephyr nodded ignoring the pang he felt when she said Mate .
"We still don't know how she breached the shield," he muttered, his brow furrowed.
"We don't know a lot of things, Young Alpha," Otsanna replied with a gentle smile before departing.
Zephyr could only wonder how his mother would take it. He suspected it would be a shock to her, as it was.
"That's unbelievable !" Vilka expressed after Ralph finished his explanation.
"Yet, it's the truth," Ralph stated.
Vilka understood now.
Her son's erratic behavior, the raw emotions he had been displaying.....
A whirlwind of questions and anxieties swirled within her. But one thought dominated all others: Hati's daughter, bound to her son?
That was impossible!

A loud scream rang out in Alpha Zephyr's bedroom.
Selene was having a terrible day dream, crying and struggling.
"Ember! Ember!" She sobbed as she clutched the sheets tightly and wriggled in anguish.
Then her eyes snapped open with tears flowing out. She was welcomed back to her reality with the figure of Zephyr bent, towering over her.
Selene burst in to more tears and shocked Zephyr when she jumped in to his arms covering her face in his neck.
"It's just a dream. She's not dead. Ember isn't dead." She kept on crying.
Zephyr stiffened.
He didn't like contact.
He never allowed any form of physical contact. Raula had been trying for a very long time and he had never let her hug him.
It would have been normal for him to push her away immediately but there was something about her hold on him that made him freeze.
Her scent was overwhelming and overpowering sending an adrenaline rush that crippled his usual darkness.
Selene stopped sobbing as she began to feel the surge of emotions as well as realize she jumped in to her enemy's arms .
She was frozen.
She fitted perfectly in his arms and the smell of his skin was intoxicating.
She inhaled deeply taking in more of his scent while her face remained buried in the crook of his neck. That single action shot a spark through Zephyr.
An unusual and strange feeling of calm was washing over him. Unable to stop himself, he bent over with a low growl beginning to Smell her body.
It was strange for Selene but somehow she found herself enjoying it.
It was the power of the mate attraction mixed with the unfamiliarity of such intimacy for both of them.
Zephyr's inner wolf sought more contact and he held her tightly sniffing in the crook of her neck. Selene gasped feeling pleasured as she felt his breath on her body.
Zephyr's emotions were fuelled by her response. He lost control of his heightened emotions and ripped her clothes in a loud growl.
Nostalgia struck Selene immediately as the memories of her engagement night flooded in. The nightmare that had taken place in her room began to choke her as Zephyr roughly kissed her body and gripped her.
"Stop! Please stop!" She cried out in fear but Zephyr was long gone.
His wolf was craving her body more than the full moon. He ripped her clothes more and grabbed her, inhaling and biting her delicious skin.
"Mate!" He growled from deep within him.
His senses were heightened and emotions raging as his fangs struck out. He bent over sniffing her neck and just as he was about to sink his teeth in, Selene's piercing scream rang loud in his mind.
He stopped abruptly and pushed her so hard that she was sent to the wall hiting her back and landing on the ground.
Zephyr was snarling and breathing hard as his eyes were fixed intently on her.
She was quivering and crying hugging herself tightly. He left the room banging the door behind him.
Selene was left alone, crying in pain as the memory of her engagement night in her room rushed in to her mind.
The growls, claws, red eyes, her body being slammed against the ground.
"No!No!No!" She covered herself wishing she could block all her thoughts.
She turned to the window, wishing like that night, she could throw herself out and run away to a very far place but her curse had her movements restricted.
I will not be able to leave until the New month phase. She reminded herself.
Selene did not know how long she had stayed seated on the ground hugging herself.
When the door opened again , she flinched in fear.
Zephyr walked in and tossed a cloth to her.
"Get dressed. We have somewhere to be." He ordered.
Selene looked down at the cloth before her feet and then looked back at him.
"Somewhere to be? Are we going outside?" She asked, her voice cracking and revealing fear.
"Yes." Came the curt response.
