Ryder didn't join in their chatting, laughing, and joking. He just stood quietly behind Aria, lazily warming the little girl's hands.
The corner of his mouth curled up when he lowered his eyes.
The previous efforts to please her roommates hadn't been in vain.
After they had been joking around for a while and it was completely dark, Aria suddenly remembered to ask them, "It's so late. What are you doing coming downstairs?"
The girls in their dormitory usually didn't go downstairs if they didn't have to. Even when it came to getting food, they took turns ordering and going to buy it.
"Since it has been snowing for two consecutive days, a lot of people are playing outside, so we came down to join in the fun,"
Oli said with a smile. "After all, it's not easy to see snow."
"Everyone is at the basketball court behind."
Apartment Building No. 5 was above Apartment Building No. 7 where Aria and the others lived. The open space to the left between the two apartment buildings was a small basketball court.
There were always groups of boys playing basketball there.
Now, people were running over to build snowmen, have snowball fights, and roll snow blankets. The snow over there hadn't been cleaned, and there wasn't much damage to it.
It was a white expanse, clean and beautiful.
By the big slope leading to Apartment Building No. 5, the snow was compacted and very slippery, making it inconvenient to walk. It was really fun to slide down on a piece of cardboard.
Aria was excitedly pulled along by her roommates.
She couldn't help but look back at Ryder.
Sophie waved unceremoniously. "Come on, President. Hurry up and join us. Our Aria is so cute. What if she gets bullied? Hurry up, a boyfriend should come and protect her."
Olivia and Oli also laughed and chimed in.
Ryder lowered his eyes and met the little girl's pitiful and expectant almond-shaped eyes. With his hands in his pockets, he raised his chin and smiled softly.
"Go ahead. I'll follow you."
There were indeed quite a few students who came down to play in the snow in the dark.
This kind of entertainment might not be very interesting to people of other ages, but for college students, it was just right.
Aria was delighted to see a row of snowmen on the lime platform outside the basketball court. They were neatly arranged from largest to smallest, and even their noses, eyes, and mouths were all carved out.
There was also a rather abrupt little duck, and no one knew who had made it.
It was so cute.
Aria couldn't help but take out her phone to take pictures.
Olivia and Oli, who were from the south, held Sophie and quickly rushed into the basketball court. Before running in, they winked at Aria.
Then they looked at Ryder.
"Here you go, President. We're giving your girlfriend back to you."
Aria turned around.
Ryder was standing quietly next to that row of snowmen.
The light and shadow were divided under the street lamp, giving an indescribable sense of humor. His expression was a bit lazy, and there was a relaxed smile on the corner of his mouth.
He was the only warm color in the cold night.
She smiled and raised her phone, then carefully pressed the shutter button.
Then she trotted over.
"Run slowly." Ryder took two steps forward to catch her and said angrily with a frown.
"Ooh," Aria showed him the phone screen. "Is it nice?"
The photo was of him.
Ryder glanced at it lazily. "It's nice."
Aria thought he was being a bit perfunctory. Before she could say anything, she was pulled by Ryder to take a few photos together, and then they went to the basketball court.
The basketball court was in chaos. It was hard to tell which major or grade the students were from. They were all messing around in groups, having snowball fights and throwing snow at whoever they could catch.
From time to time, there were angry shouts.
Since there were no familiar people here, Aria didn't really like playing snowball fights. She walked along the edge and found her roommates. They were also having a great time.
When they saw Aria coming, they wickedly made a snowball and threw it at her. "Ri-Ri, look out!"
Aria was stunned when she was hit.
The boy beside her let out a low laugh.
"So dazed."
Aria: "..."
Why didn't her boyfriend throw the snowball back for her?
Instead, he was laughing at her?
Ryder laughed even harder. After he had laughed enough, he slowly bent down, picked up some snow, and made a snowball. He handed it to her.
He smiled lazily and said, "Remember how I taught you to shoot a basketball?"
Aria held the snowball in a daze.
But what did this have to do with shooting a basketball?
Ryder put his arm around Aria from behind and laughed recklessly. He held her wrist to adjust the direction and whispered in her ear, "Treat them as the basketball hoop, aim, and throw it."
Aria: "?"
"I'll count down three, two, one, and then you throw it."
As he spoke, Ryder loosely held her wrist, and their arms overlapped. The next second, the snowball was thrown out—
Sophie, who was hit: "..."
"Those lovebirds are bullying us! Damn it! It's bad enough that they suddenly threw snowballs at us, but they even threw them while hugging each other. Sisters, we have to throw them back!!"
Several snowballs flew over immediately.
Ryder led Aria to dodge and then made another snowball and stuffed it into her hand.
"Do as I just said. Use all the skills I taught you yesterday. You definitely won't fail the PE final, okay?"
"... Oh."
Aria nodded blankly.
A small snowball fight between 2 people and 3 people quickly began.
An hour later. m.gΟиЪ.ōΓG
In the corner, the people who were easily hit by the snow but couldn't hit Aria, who was being protected by someone, were going crazy and shouting—
"Argh, I'm so angry. I want to find a boyfriend too, right now, immediately!"
"This is so boring. I mean, it's really boring!"
"Damn it. We shouldn't have asked them to play with us. Is this what's popular now, to be so lovey-dovey? President, back off!"
As they spoke, they kept making snowballs and throwing them hard at the opposite side.
Aria obediently hid behind Ryder, took the snowballs he handed her, and after throwing them, she quickly reached out to brush the snow off Ryder.
They were all having a great time laughing and playing.
"Damn, am I seeing things?"
Suddenly, someone shouted, "Guys, look at the direction about 45 degrees southeast. Does that guy over there look like our Ryderoo?"
Oliver Kim: "It can't be. Didn't the fairy abandon him for another girl? After he woke up in the afternoon and looked at his phone, he didn't even say a word. He just went to wait for someone downstairs in the library with a gloomy face."
Ryan Bennett laughed and looked over there with his arms crossed. "Tsk, take another look?"
"Hey—" Oliver Kim clicked his tongue. "You know what? It really is him."
"Ryder, that guy, is here playing snowball fights with his girlfriend and a group of girls? He didn't even invite us..."
Finn Alvarez put away his phone and also squinted over there.
Ryan Bennett and Oliver Kim rushed towards the corner one after another, ready to catch Ryder off guard.
Finn Alvarez let out a soft laugh and followed. He lowered his head and tapped the screen. On it was a message from Maya Brooks—
[The Heartthrob of 900 Million Boys]: No, we just got back.
[The Heartthrob of 900 Million Boys]: Did he come to find Ri-Ri? I don't know. We were in the café above the library the whole time and didn't see him come.
"Pfft, okay then."
He had been so tough when he left the dormitory. He had that imposing manner as if he was going to teach that little girl a lesson. He had gone to "catch her in the act" with great momentum.
But in the end, he came here to play with her?
Who would have thought that the dignified president of the student union, Ryder, who had such high aspirations, would be so infatuated with his girlfriend that he couldn't bear to be apart from her when in love?
