It had been three days since he had that dream. Till now he hasn't met anyone yet. Every morning he'd wake up to a bunch of food and water. The first day a magazine was beside it. Till the next day he didn't get anything else.
Today he intended on talking with someone. So he decided to stay up till the food came.
At noon his eyes were drowsy and he was really drained. He passed out and once he came back to he saw that food was layed out in front of him.
' groan...'
He felt like a prisoner but he had no one to complain about it to.
The day went by like all other days but by midnight something odd happened. He had a guest.
A lady in a red dress entered his room.
"I've been meaning to ask why you don't enter with guards"
The lady looked at him and smiled
" Guards protect people from threats, are you a threat?"
He was disappointed that he wasn't viewed as someone who was a threat but then again if he where a threat he'd be dead right now.
" So is there any particular reason you decided to visit today?"
" Do you not wish for a companion?"
" No I do. Wait not like companion like that... I just want to ask questions"
" Then ask "
"Am I a prisoner here?"
" Is that all?"
" Yes. Wait what did you people do to me that night "
" What night are you referring to, we've met twice at night now "
" Three days ago I had a very weird dream "
" I assure you it is of little consequence and regarding your status here. You are indeed a prisoner of sorts. That is until after the council determines your value"
" The council? And then that reminds me. What is yin Yang?"
" So you seriously don't know?"
He shrugs.
" Where are you from?"
" Furyō "
" So you're still Asian. How then do you not... Never mind. Yin Yang is one of the largest clans in Asia "
" Ooooh. Yh what's a clan"
....
After several explanations later he learnt that the fifteen countries in Asia, exempting the whole of Furyō, is controlled by clans. He also learnt that each clan has a different type of fighting unit that helps them deal with beasts and other threats. The yin Yang clan is a peculiar clan as it is the only clan that allows all sorts of people. In most clans only male humans were members of their fighting force.
He had accidentally asked for the intervention of the yin Yang clan, the are in charge of the whole area.
The council was another thing he learnt about. Other than their control of the clan they also scrutinized any who sought to join them.
Currently they were all viewing his dream, that supposedly a simulation, to determine his fate. It turned out that the dream was a sort of test for new intake.
He was also informed that he'd be summoned soon to buy the council.
...
In a really large hall the boy was standing in the centre. He wasn't really nervous but he wasn't too confident either.
The whole hall was made of the same black glass like the one from his dream, that was technically a simulation.
The hall was really wide and it had a curved ceiling like the one in churches. There wasn't any windows yet somehow the place was illuminated. There were five towering chairs in the middle of the room, they currently surrounded him. He didn't see how people got on it as they weren't steps attached to it.
The room was oddly shaped there seemed to be several boxes all around the sides of the room. He had tried to count them but didn't mind not knowing how many they were.
" Urm" his voice echoed throughout the room " are we waiting for someone?"
Just then the doors to the room opened. Five cloaked figure walked in. They most have been really old cause they moved really slowly.
' are these old people the ones expected to judge me ?'
The five figures each stopped beside a chair, when all where besides their chairs someone from the spectators announced.
" We greet you!! the great shadows, your presence is our honour!!"
As if rehearsed all the spectators rose from their seats.
" Do you see us fit to be in your presence!"
The cloaked figures each turned their heads and gazed at the spectators.
Then they did something that baffled the boy, each of them jumped. They used so much power that he was afraid the ground would crack. With incredible ease they were seated on their chairs.
" We watch on as your guests "
All the spectators remained standing.
The announcer was the only person who sat.
He returned his gaze to the chairs. The cloaked figures, now seated, seemed to forget about the spectators all their attention was focused in their middle. They were all looking at him. He was getting nervous, something about the cloaked figures made him want to run. They removed their hoods and faced each other. He was surprised for a moment, non of the people seated on the chairs were old. Infact, the oldest person amongst them looked about 40.
" Urmm, can I speak?"
Immediately after asking, their oppressive gazes fell back on him and he suddenly couldn't stand straight.
" You are already speaking" it was the only female amongst them. She looked like she was in her twenties but the way she spoke and her demenur made it clear she was a lot older than that.
" Okay, so I have three questions"
" Do you wish to speak or not. If so I suggest that you say all you want once "
He hadn't said a threat but somehow he could tell that there was an underlying message there.
" I don't really understand what is happening here but I want to know if I'm going to die. Yes you supposedly saved me from execution but from what I gather there's more than one outcome to this... Meeting. What exactly was the dream I experienced. What do I need to do, to not die."
