Evangeline stared at Sereia's conventionally pretty face, utterly dumbfounded. "Why on earth would you want to come with me?" she asked with disbelief laced in her voice.
Sereia, was still catching her breath from her short sprint when she looked up to meet Evangeline's gaze.
"Because my life here is boring. Like, mind-numbingly boring. Nothing ever happens. I've spent eighteen years in this village without a single ounce of adventure. I can't take it anymore."
Evangeline blinked. "And you think coming with me will be… adventurous?"
Sereia nodded sharply. "Look at you! You're practically teeming with it. Just being near you feels like… I don't know, like something big is always about to happen."
Evangeline raised a skeptical brow. "What do you mean?"
Sereia's expression softened, her green eyes darted around timidly.
