Rosalie's expression turned rigid.
"Did you trail me?"
"It was mere happenstance," I replied.
However, Rosalie evidently doubted my words, eyeing me with mistrust.
Previously, I might have attempted to vindicate myself, but now, her opinion held no significance for me. I addressed the matter directly: "As you also wish to end our relationship, we're in agreement. Let's terminate it."
"I won't claim anything in your name. We can part ways amicably."
With everything now in the open, I anticipated Rosalie's swift agreement, but to my astonishment, she wavered.
"Felix, reconsider. You're not in your youth anymore. If you leave me now, given your circumstances, you might struggle to find a partner of my caliber."
"My words at the hotel were spoken in anger. If you apologize, I might reconsider ending our relationship."
"I still harbor some affection for you, you know..."
Recognizing her attempt to retain me, I felt a twinge of surprise.
