I gently removed her grasp from my hands.

"There's been a misunderstanding. I'm not here as a volunteer. The cost for repairs is $100. Would you prefer to pay via PayPal or Venmo?"

Once Rosalie completed the transfer, I promptly left. I disregarded her continued words and exited the building without delay.

As I observed her reddened, tearful eyes and felt only inner calm, I realized I had truly moved on.

However, I soon discovered that she had also let go.

Four weeks after the project's launch, I was served with legal papers from her firm.

The suit alleged that I had taken classified information from the company. The evidence presented was quite thorough.

Besides physical documents and some financial records, there was also footage captured on the day I fixed Rosalie's plumbing issue.

It had been edited to show only my search for tools in the room. Rosalie had misrepresented this, claiming I was hunting for confidential files at that time.
