Chapter 5

As I moved to remove my mask, Nelson grabbed my arm, snarling, "Your identity is irrelevant. Apologize, or I'll ensure you're dismissed!"

Rosina gleefully pointed her phone at me, victorious. "Force her to bow and apologize! I'm capturing this. Everyone will witness the consequences of defying us!"

The onlookers muttered disapprovingly.

"These individuals are terrible..."

"Indeed, the elderly woman instigated it."

Unperturbed, Rosina sneered, "Even the hospital's chief must be courteous to my son. Who does this physician think she is? She'll be unemployed by tomorrow!"

Nelson pushed me down, attempting to make me bow. I resisted, refusing to yield. Furious, he struck the back of my knee.

I tumbled to the floor, my knees crashing against the hard surface.

"Say sorry!" he demanded, pressing me further down. During the struggle, my hat and mask fell off. My face was exposed as I hit the ground with a terrible thud.

Agony coursed through me, and I momentarily lost consciousness.
