Small meeting

I woke up in the morning, had some breakfast, and then wandered the city for some time, just observing how the people around me interacted with everything. After that, it was time for my spells and Own lessons by Berthalia, who had gotten a little aggressive since the time I learned a certain spell dozens of times faster than her.

There was a small amount of time between the lessons as well, I used that time to wander around some more, and after that, was the melee combat lessons with Arquero, who seemed delighted with my learning speed.

Then I wandered some more as the crowds thinned, then returned to the hotel, had some dinner, and went to sleep.

This routine went on for a month, time passing calmly as I learned more and more, until Plot showed up in the middle of my lesson with Berthlia.

Berthalia looked like she was about to attack Plot when he said he needed to take me away.

"Argh! Take him!"

She spoke those two words, and then she turned around and stormed off.

I looked at Plot.

"What happened?"

"Mr Numoral has completed his experiments for now, and has left his lab, and wants you to meet you."

"Did he say why?"

Plot was surprised at my question.

"You're talking more." He observed. "That's good. From what I know, he has made some new discoveries, which is a big deal since he hasn't made any of those for a while."

"Okay. Let's go."

I brought out my Skypage and unfolded it.

"Have you used it well?"

"Quite frequently."

He seemed pleased at that and got on it.

We arrived at the building a few moments later and entered.

Plot led me through familiar passages and doors to Numoral's office.

He knocked, but received no response.

He knocked again.

Another silent moment passed.

"He might be asleep," Plot remarked. "he hasn't had a good rest for more than a month."

He turned to me. "We might have to wait until he wakes up, which could take a few hours."

He sighed. "This way please." He led me to a small room.

"Let me know if you want anything." He said that and sat down on a chair.

I followed his example and sat down on a couch.

A few minutes passed in silence.

Then the door opened, attracting both of our gazes as Numoral entered.

Plot shot up to his feet and stood at attention.

"I brought him here as you said sir, but there was no res-"

"Hm." Numoral waved, interrupting Plot's explanation. "Dismissed."

Plot scurried out of the room at once, letting out an audible sigh as he did so.

Numoral looked at me and brought up the index finger of his right hand.

"Uh...huh..huh" He breathed out as his finger tapped the air.

His right hand made some quick movement as a loud 'Snap!' sounded from it, before his finger pointed at me.

"Right! Right! Alias!"

A burst of understanding went through me as I nodded, a reason behind another behavior now understood.

"Good. Good. Come with me."

He turned around and left the room, and I walked behind him.

We entered his office, which was in its 'Laboratory mode'.

He waved me to a chair.

I sat down in it as the machinery around me started to do its work, strapping me to the chair.

Three different scanners moved across my body, as a small, thin needle-like object was inserted into my right arm, strangely not causing me any pain.

Numoral did not say a word to me as he moved through screens and displays, muttering something every now and then as he saw something interesting.

The whole operation took three minutes as different machines worked, each of them doing their duties without fault.

Then they all retracted, and the restraints that held me released.

I did not move from the chair.

Numoral walked to my front and looked at me, hand on his chin, with an unconcealed madness in his eyes and a wide grin on his face.

Then he straightened and held out a hand to me.

I took it, and he pulled me up as his other hand came around and clasped mine in between his.

"You have no idea how much I'm grateful to you for absorbing that first Cor."

"It was your suggestion."

"You could have forgotten it."

That was something highly unlikely, since he was the one who was taking care of literally everything related to me, and also the strange feeling I got whenever he looked at me.

We stood in silence for a moment like that, with my hand still held in between his.

Then he let go.

"Your body is going through a 'Shedding' it is a normal process so don't worry about it, come back to me after 13 days, we will continue with experimentation then. Any questions?"

"What is 'Shedding'?"

"It's the process much like a snake's molting, and It occurs when a spirit's shell is undergoing an upgrade."

Numoral looked stared into my eyes.

"No other questions."

"Then you are free to leave."

"Thank you."

I thanked him and left the building.
