Too Much Trouble For A Single Day

A minor commotion ensued following the guard's order. Many people who were laying tattered on the path immediately began to give way, trying to stay clear out of the troublesome Chen clan's way.

While they were moving, Chen Zhiyu's face only darkened before he began plotting a means of escape from the scene.

However, he had only taken a step to the east when a voice called out from within the chariot.

"Stop right there!" The speaker was none other than Chen Xizi whose face couldn't be completely covered by the chariot clothing.

Chen Zhiyu momentarily paused out of instinct but he cursed at his foolhardiness. To what benefit was he stopping pursued for?

"Well, well, well, Look who we have at the public stores today. My Chen clan's 'noble' Young Master haha" Chen Xizi cackled maliciously from within the chariot. All this while, the sneer of disgust on his face didn't recede by even a facial muscle.

Following Chen Xizi's declaration, the surrounding people began casting gazes at Chen Zhiyu. Some were laced with pity, sneers, grins while the others took a glance and faced an opposite direction.

Chen Zhiyu was already used to these stares so he didn't care so much about it. He only awaited his verdict now that Chen Xizi had managed to catch up with him.

In a short while, one of the guards moved closer to the chariot. His actions revealed that he was probably instructed by Chen Xizi but with partial secrecy.

Next, the guard, a cultivator at the Eighth Stage of Body Tempering, began making wide steps in Chen Zhiyu's direction. Chen Zhiyu frowned and tried to put away his box as quickly as possible but he was already seen through by the guard.

BAM!

Chen Zhiyu was pushed back by the guard and before he knew what was happening, he had been tossed to the ground.

"My…box" Chen Zhiyu shouted in amazement and tried calling back the guard who was currently in possession of his box to give it back.

"Hey…Hey…I'm talking to you" Chen Zhiyu called out loudly but he seemed to be talking to himself.

Even when he started making dragged strides towards the guard, the latter did not stop for even a second, leaving Chen Zhiyu screaming behind him.

"Hais! What a joke? The Young Master is so humbled that even an ordinary guard dares to mess with him"

"The strong rules the weak after all. No guard would be obedient to such trash of a Young Master. You of all people should know that"

"Hmph! But at least, not to the point of ruining the Young Master's face here. It would be better if they left all these action and drama at the Chen clan before acting uncivilized out here"

"Shhhhh! Don't you want your life anymore? Lodd Zi is listening closely, what would happen to you if you suddenly became the next Young Master Chen"

"Hmph! Hmph!"

"But Lord Zi is going too far with this, isn't he afraid of soiling the Chen clan's reputation with this unnecessary public display"

"That's the Chen clan's business, not mine, I only have to watch the fun as an audience haha"

Chen Xizi's sneer slowly transformed into a small smile as he listened keenly to the chatters and conversations of these traders. With his cultivation at the Seventh Level of Foundation Establishment, even if they spoke in whispers, he could still spy on them with ease.

"Hey!" Chen Zhiyu finally caught up to the guard and tried boxing the latter out of balance so that he could retrieve the box.

However,

BANG!

A small crack occured on his finger bones, making a sensation of numbness wash over him for a long time. The guard on the other sneered, his eyes flashing with a cold glint aa he continued walking in the direction of Chen Xizi's chariot.

However, when he reached their encampment, his expression turned solemn as he slit through the chariot's curtain and began another discussion with Chen Xizi.

Chen Zhiyu's face burned for a long time with fury but he could do nothing about his condition. Since, there was little he could do that would help out, he decided to swallow the awful treatment all the same.

Right now, he just wanted his ink box so that he could go back home. Who cared what Chen Xizi was plotting here? It was none of his business, the only thing that mattered was that the ink box should return to its rightful owner.

After minutes, Chen Xizi's mocking voice sounded from within the chariot.

"The Young Master really is a character, isn't he? To think that why everyone else are devoting their time to cultivate and understand the principles of Heaven and Earth, he's actually out here, buying ink for calligraphy hahahaha!" Chen Xizi's maniac laughter ensued after his speech.

For about a second, no giggles accompanied his laughter so he snorted in disapproval. The surrounding traders realized the error signal and soon they also began making stifled chuckles and laughters.

Beneath their smiling facade however, they all cursed that this troublesome Chen Xizi would leave their square so they could carry out their transactions. His presence here was causing an unnecessary pause in the exchange for the day, but nobody could brave it up to go up and confront him for wasting time.

After all, they knew that Chen Xizi was not only arrogant and troublesome, he also loved to keep malice. And also, he was heavily spoiled by everyone at home as the youngest son, only falling short behind his younger sister.

Hence, even those with some level of strength had to be cautious about whether they could bear the chain of troubles that would ensue if they hurt even a single hair on his head, leading to disorientation in the end.

The best any of them could wish for was that Chen Zhiyu really had the strength to be able to withstand the trauma from this encounter as it was quite evident that Chen Xizi's arrival here had something to do with him.

"Fourth Cousin, spare me all the trouble and just hand over my ink box to me. I'm not in the mood for entertainment today" Chen Zhiyu spoke with gritted teeth but his confident speech was reciprocated with an unassuming response.

"Hahaha! Cousin Yu, I've actually taken quite a liking to this beautiful ink box of yours, how about you lend it to me for some time hahn" Chen Xizi's response turned out to be an indirect form of mockery in disguise to Chen Zhiyu's request.
