"Bring him in for correction!" Chen Xizi's tone teemed with absolute confidence and an overbearing presence.
If one didn't know the whole story, they would even be quick to presume that he was actually ridding off a lawbreaker as a righteous cultivator.
Next, the two guards brought Chen Zhiyu to their encampment. Chen Zhiyu remained mute the whole time, though he was boiling with a small fragment of him, the reality of being trash withheld him from retaliation.
PA!!
Next, the rest of the guards materialized canes out of their spatial rings. The canes were short, fat and lightly steep in some places. Even the observing crowd shook with visible terror on seeing the canes.
"Hmm, it is already going too far, can't somebody stop Lord Zi"
"Brother Nan, you can be the spearhead of the righteous cause, we'll be your loyal followers"
"Yes, Little Wei would support you as well"
"Hmph! You two are only mocking me just now, and it's fine, the behemoth that is the Chen clan, not just anybody can volunteer to be in their bad books. They are all too ruthless, especially the current Clan leader"
"Young Master Chen has done unjust deeds and has tarnished the reputation of the Chen clan, hence deserving of the punishment of thirty strokes. Young Master Chen, do you willfully accept your guiltiness?" one of the guards announced with a detached voice, his hand suspended a little above his head, the terrible cane was within his grasp as well.
Chen Zhiyu's eyes rotated between Chen Xizi's chariot where the latter had entered again, the surrounding customers from all across the public stores which were going to witness such a humiliation live and also the guards mounted with their canes.
He closed his eyes for a moment and let all of this sink in. A few tears dripped off his eyes but he shook his head and got rid of them quickly.
"I am guilty" Chen Zhiyu's voice echoed with helplessness and bitterness as he passively gave in to these claims that he was completely innocent of.
"Good! Now hit him!" Chen Xizi's words followed after like a verbal assault before the real canes descended.
He wore an evil smirk which seemed like it would forever be on his face even till the point when life ended.
PA!
SMACK!
SMACK!
The guards began to strike their canes on Chen Zhiyu from different corners with a fine tuned rhythm and pattern. As for Chen Zhiyu, he blanked his mind, ridding it off the vengeful thoughts he might have while he just laid in the passive, allowing the anomaly to go on.
If he were lucky beforehand, he might be able to get redemption from a 'Good Samaritan', otherwise, he wouldn't mind even if he got paralyzed due to their punishment.
…
Intermittently, three cultivators were flying in midair and heading in the direction of the public stores. The three wore similar apparel which proved they were likely acquaintances of some sort.
The main one to have stood out was a lady. She was dressed in ice blue robes, her aura was ethereal and subjective. She had the darkest eyes that looked like the purest version of whatever was called night. She also had a curvaceous body that was clearly outlined in her tight blue robes.
Every move of hers carried subtle grace and a soothing feeling unique to cultivators alone.
The lady in description was the Yan Clan's Young Mistress, Yan Yiyue. And by her side, a male and a female, were fellow disciples of the Snow Moon Peak. From their appearance and their travel pace, they were likely out on a mission which was probably in relation with the city below their sect's mountains.
"Junior Sister Yan, Elder Hua specially requested that we bring three Crimson Blood Fruit, a Nine Year old Snow Lotus and several Purple Night Gems…so far, we only have the Nine Year old Snow Lotus with us. As for the Crimson Blood Fruit, the bastard Gu Cheng already stole it from us. So now we need to find the Purple Night Gems as quickly as we can"
"Yes, I agree with Senior Brother Ye, the Crimson Blood Fruit could still be exchanged for the right price. But the Purple Night Gems on the other hand are very rare, we must hurry up and find them as fast as we can"
Yan Yiyue was on the move as she listened adeptly to the suggestions of her fellow disciples and reflected in deep thoughts.
A few days ago, they set out of the Snow Moon Peak for a mission. The mission involved bringing in the three alchemy items required by an elder of the sect, Elder Hua.
The items had their different purposes and so they varied in means of access and collection. So, though it was an easy task to retrieve the Crimson Blood Fruit and the Nine Year Old Snow Lotus through exchange, the Purple Night Gems had to be dug out for by oneself.
If they were to go purchasing themselves, it would be very costly considering how endangering it was to handpick them. Eventually, the sect wanted them to train themselves with this mission so they ordered that it must be strictly hand-picked and that they were relieved of purchasing it for submission.
If they were caught defaulting, they would pay a terrible price for it would be seen as a clear defiance to the sect's rules.
But, with the spirit of youth and adventurousness, even if the sect didn't give them this routine, Yan Yiyue and her companions would still choose to do most of the task by themselves.
Earlier on, they had a confrontation with Gu Cheng, a rascal from the Heaven Subduing Sanctuary. The latter was able to sweet talk his way and also fight it out to snatch their bravely acquired Crimson Blood Fruit.
Yan Yiyue was in a bad mood since then and she was evidently riled up by it. Her senior colleagues could only do as much as trying to calm her down, but like many proud geniuses and daughters of heaven, they weren't the kind to casually swallow losses.
More than thrice, she had already spat out her thoughts of flaying Gu Cheng alive if she ever met the latter again while flying.
