Pursued By A Demonic Beast

Next, Senior Brother Yu followed Yan Yiyue's decision without further questions. He could also tell apart the safest altitude to let Chen Zhiyu before giving up and heading in the direction of the Gem City alongside Yan Yiyue and Senior Sister Tang.

Chen Zhiyu could not help but snort within him with measured fury on getting to realize that what he felt would be a better aid from his wife-to-be wasn't what he got at all. Yan Yiyue loathed him in those days before now and she still hasn't waned off her flames of hatred.

He made his body contort weirdly while he was about falling off the sky midair. His body was quite sore from the beatings earlier making him bear an extraordinary weight.

Thanks to that, he was able to make a narrow landing but fell down shortly after in just three minutes of him walking.

He had somehow landed in a lone path, it was familiar to him though not very clearly. His vision was still hazy and distorted alot at this point, making it a lot more difficult for him to feel and perceive his environment better. Hence, he could only roam around by depending on the sense of smell and hearing being his prioritized senses.

By now, Yan Yiyue and her fellow disciples had zoomed off into the skies with the speed of lighting. Their movements made it seem like it was only a dream since he last saw them.

By the way, this Yan Yiyue herself was quite arrogant in nature and with her status from a younger age, she learned not to care for him a long time, especially when she heard that he was currently a trash – she grew miles apart right after then.

Now, having been brought out from the public stores to a place like this isolated path which he had no idea about its heading point or destination. It was moments like this that kept him in the shadow of his memories, forever burdened by the reflection of his past actions.

But when Chen Zhiyu's butts rocked the earth in the process of taking a seat, his instincts kicked in like crazy. He could hear shuffling sounds, unfortunately his face was messy that his vision at this point remained a bit hazy.

He could feel a primitive danger, a sort of genetic threat and it was looming around his surroundings. Chen Zhiyu's survival instincts kicked in almost immediately, he fell flat, held his breath and ceased any reckless movement.

If it were to be any other time, Chen Zhiyu's luck might be useful and he could actually escape this calamity. Unfortunately, today wasn't one of such lucky days.

The thing he wanted to hide from, had already pictured him before he made the move of faking his death. With his weak wit, it would be scornful but a thing of pride if he were able to escape the demonic beast's grasp on a normal day.

But, thanks to his injuries, he couldn't tell that the beast had already seen him in the first place.

"Oh no!" Chen Zhiyu screamed inwardly but despite his panic inwardly, he still tried to retain rationality.

He could feel with bated breaths, the closer approach of death heading to him.

ROAR!!!

The demonic beast in question gave a scan as it prowled its way to Chen Zhiyu's presently unconscious body. It had seen this human 'faint' not too long ago so it was really skeptical.

It strolled around, sniffing around him with predatorial eyes. Though Chen Zhiyu couldn't open his eyes to experience for himself, he felt a rush of adrenaline from it but restrained himself from taking action.

The demonic beast shook its head a couple of times. It confirmed that the human had no breath, was posturing like a dead person but the latter's blood was still vibrant. This meant that Chen Zhiyu was likely alive, well, probably not anymore

It was already considered in its heart that Chen Zhiyu was prey. It proceeded to lay its paw on Chen Zhiyu for a while. It seemed to break Chen Zhiyu's spell of instability.

Finally obeying his body's instinctual call, Chen Zhiyu's adrenaline rush empowered him to leave at breakneck speed. He could manage a bit of sight as well from the hormonal changes, hence he fled in the opposite direction, not daring to spare a second glance behind him.

From his earlier glance, he knew that the terror of the demonic beast was at a level he could never match up to, at least for now. The demonic beast that was checking him out earlier was unlike anything he had ever seen, it was in fact, a hybrid beast with combined genes of a bear and a tiger.

Its strength was only at the Sixth Stage of the Body Tempering, compared to a human cultivator at the Eighth Stage of the Body Tempering Realm. To Chen Xizi, this was probably a pet cat but to Chen Zhiyu, it was a disaster like the manifestation of one's nightmares to him.

Only looking at its eyes earlier on by accident, gave Chen Zhiyu a reminder of what it was to feel fear. Right now, he cared about saving his own life first, not even remembering what had happened with Chen Xizi again. From the moment that the demonic beast had set its gaze on him, Chen Zhiyu could tell that a real life and death crisis had happened to him.

Any other day would have been maneuverable for him to escape and survive but now that he had already grown sore and sustained a lot of injuries, it was becoming too taxing to his body.

Hence, the little momentum he had picked up from the beginning began to wade out. He could feel the pounding on the earth from behind him as the demonic beast got closer and closer to him.

"Am I really going to die here, what sort of shitty life is this. I can't fight, neither can I run…it's like I would have to sit passively and wait for death to come and claim me" Chen Zhiyu serially questioned in his rapidly beating heart from a pure feeling of fear for the state of his survival.
