Getting An Impromptu Pet Gift

In any case, he was still happy and thankful in his heart to have escaped this looming calamity at the end of the day.

"Let's go fix you up!" Old Man Zhang gave Chen Zhiyu a soft glance and began walking towards the west.

The Wind Tiger Bear followed meekly but only behind Old Man Zhang as the latter was whom it feared the most.

Chen Zhiyu simply followed without a word, he was initially speechless after all.

In a short time, they arrived at the familiar cave setting. But it was only a simple stepping in, he didn't go through this rigorous mechanism like the first time.

This made Chen Zhiyu question in his heart on two bases for the outcome.

Firstly, it was probably because of Old Man Zhang was the one entering, hence all the mechanisms were dormant during his entry. On the other hand, it could also be that he was only hallucinating the time he first entered the cave and all of the things he pictured wasn't how it appeared in the outside world.

Chen Zhiyu was more willing to cling to the first assumption than the second. It was a matter of him being confident in himself and in the power of intuition.

Chen Zhiyu sat down on the same platform that he sat on before. He took off his upper clothing with immediate effect. There were cane marks from the lashing he initially suffered.

The pain coming from them was intense and though he once ignored it before because of his body trying to overdraft on his energy, the repercussion hit harder this time around.

Old Man Zhang fetched himself a wine flask and downed a great portion of its content without a break. The Wind Tiger Bear observed from the sidelines, wary in its heart about what would happen afterwards.

However, nothing engaging happened for a while, leaving Chen Zhiyu and the demonic besst triggered about what exactly was transpiring in the heart of the old man.

Old Man Zhang finally stood up after about fifteen minutes of hesitation. He walked to his alchemy desk, fetched a small sized pouch and threw it at Chen Zhiyu who was still watching his actions blankly. However, he was able to make a good catch by relying on reflexive response.

"This?" Chen Zhiyu asked, his face revealing that he had no idea of what Old Man Zhang's action meant.

He thought that Old Man Zhang would start treating his wounds as courteously as the last time. But reality dawned on him to let him know that he was only overestimating his worth in the eyes of Old Man Zhang. After all, not only was he more versed in age, his strength alone was a testament to how extraordinary he was.

Such a character would not be so fluid with kindness unless they had a motive in mind or if it brought tangible benefits.

"En, you'll take that first, it should soothe the throbbing pain as quickly as possible. Once that's done, you'll only have to treat the scars in your own way" Old Man Zhang highlighted and Chen Zhiyu nodded tacitly.

"Thank you" Chen Zhiyu said politely and quickly unfurled the content.

The pouch housed about three different containers, each containing three pills of unique nature and utility. However, they shared something in common, they were not volatile and they also had a high percentage of purity in them.

The first container, a jade bottle was opened and Chen Zhiyu picked out a pill. The pill was blue and a little bit crystalline. He tossed it into his mouth at once.

"HUH!"

He breathed in as he awaited the results. When the pill entered his blood stream, it ceased movement and then released a grinding force on its own. The pill was crushed and all of its content was absorbed into his bloodstream.

Chen Zhiyu soon began enjoying the benefits as the throbbing pain came to a controlled calm. A few minutes later, the pain had lessened and as for the irregularities left, a wave of numbness hit him, making him impervious to it.

After thirty minutes, Chen Zhiyu's healing session temporarily came to a standby.

"Little Friend, do take care of yourself. You are still of much use to me. I can't let you die so early without achieving it. Understood?" Old Man Zhang's closing tone was a tad bit more serious.

"Yes" Chen Zhiyu agreed blindly as he adjusted his clothing.

"Good. By the way, do you by chance need a companion?" Old Man Zhang suggested and stroked the Wind Tiger Bear as he spoke.

His intent was clear and Chen Zhiyu easily picked that. He was awed at first at this request and he could hardly believe his ears. In his life, he had never been escorted or accompanied by someone or something before.

It was due to the fact that he was an anomaly, so few people would want to flock around him at times. This led to him believing in isolation and solitude.

But there wasn't a sane human who wouldn't love soothing companionship irregardless of it coming from a human or pet.

"I wouldn't mind, I'd love to have one actually" Chen Zhiyu smiled flatly and awaited Old Man Zhang's reply.

The latter nodded his head, rubbed and fondled with the Wind Tiger Bear by playing around its furs.

A few minutes after, Old Man Zhang let the Wind Tiger Bear go. It casually strolled to Chen Zhiyu just like it did to Old Man Zhang earlier.

A flash of surprise could be seen in Chen Zhiyu's eyes as the latter was a little lost on how quickly the Wind Tiger Bear had switched membership.

"I linked it with a trace of your aura so it's knitted with you for now. You may leave right away" Old Man Zhang shooed Chen Zhiyu out of the cave with a lazy look.

"The time is close, get ready Little Friend. You'll have to make the decision yourself by then. Choose wisely" Old Man Zhang ran out of advise and fell back on his platform.

BAM!

It all happened really fast and before Chen Zhiyu could make sense of what exactly was going on, he had been kicked out of the cave.
