The Battle of Wills

Chapter Twenty-Two: The Battle of Wills

---

Nora's POV

I stood frozen, my heart pounding as the weight of Scarlett's words settled over me like a crushing storm.

I still didn't want to believe it, I was waiting for anyone to just say it was a prank or a lie but all I got was stares and silence.

I stared at them—Keal, Killian, and Scarlett—the air in the room was filled with something I couldn't explain.

For a few long seconds, no one spoke.

Keal's eyes were locked onto mine, filled with something I couldn't read.

Something I couldn't explain or tell.

Killian stood stiffly beside him, his jaw tight, his fists clenched.

And Scarlett—

Scarlett looked victorious.

Like she had something in mind.

After all this while, why did she come?

A sharp, painful ache pulsed in my chest, but I swallowed it down, locking my emotions away.

Then, without a word, I turned to leave.
