Chapter Thirty-Four: The Past and the Present
Nora's Pov…
Jack's dark eyes held mine for a moment too long, his presence stirring up memories I had long buried.
I didn't believe I would see him again. It had been long and now here he was standing in front of me.
I nodded, acknowledging his words, and turned to leave.
But before I could take another step, his hand caught my wrist, stopping me.
His touch was warm, familiar, yet foreign at the same time.
It still felt like the way I remember the way he held me the first time I met him.
"What are you doing here, Nora?" he asked, his voice laced with something unreadable.
I hesitated, then slowly pulled my hand away.
"I was just passing through," I said lightly, forcing a small smile. " I didn't know I would see you here."
Jack's expression didn't change. He studied me carefully, as if trying to figure out if I was lying.
