I hesitated momentarily before entering the flower shop, trying to appear nonchalant.
Within minutes, a bouquet of pristine white gentian was wrapped up, its petals looking fresh and fragile.
Lucas accepted the flowers but remained still. "Westin is a pleasant town."
I grinned and replied, "It's quite comfortable to live in, though it can't compete with larger cities."
"I'm fond of this place. Would you be willing to give me a tour?"
Lucas asked courteously.
"Of course, but my store..." I started to refuse.
"No worries, I can wait for you," Lucas promptly answered.
Before I could respond, patrons began to arrive.
I had to tend to them first.
Business was exceptionally brisk today.
It was nearly midday when I finally completed my tasks.
Only then did I recall Lucas.
I searched the shop but couldn't locate him.
Had he departed?
I was perplexed until I noticed someone standing on the wicker chair outside.
"You must be exhausted. I got you some milk."
