Chapter 1

Alex Reed just confessed his feelings to Sophie King—the gorgeous transfer student who arrived this week.

Everyone expected me to show up and cause a scene.

It wasn't a secret that I had a crush on Alex.

Almost the entire school knew I was pursuing him.

But at this very moment, I'm lying on Nathan Carter's bed.

Hearing the cheers from outside, I feel absolutely nothing.

Alex's plan to confess to me was kept under wraps.

But what he didn't know was that almost everyone thought I'd rush over and make a huge fuss.

After all, I liked him so much.

So crazy and passionately.

"When is she coming?"

"I don't know, but I want to see her go crazy."

"Alex is so daring! Isn't he afraid of Lena's wrath?"

"I bet he's hoping Lena shows up. It'll just showcase his charm even more. Look how Sophie's falling for his act."

"True, I really hope Lena bursts in here."

"Me too, I'm losing interest if she doesn't show up soon."

Everyone whispered, but their voices were unusually clear.

Yet after waiting for a long time, I still hadn't appeared.

The crowd began to disperse: "Forget it, she's probably not coming."

"What a letdown!"

Alex, with his arm around his new girlfriend, held his phone with a slight frown.

He seemed to be waiting for a call or message.

But he was destined to wait in vain.

Seeing the crowd had mostly left,

Alex looked disappointed, but quickly composed himself, smiling at those who remained, "Tonight's on me, everyone. Let's have a good time."

The classmates cheered.

Though Alex was academically challenged, he came from a wealthy family and was generous with his money.

His classmates ate it up.

Soon, they had forgotten about what just happened and started enjoying this unexpected treat.

And I finally emerged from the shadows.

With a faint smile on my face, I walked towards Alex, step by step.He held Sophie's waist, his smile freezing when he saw me.

But in the next second, he tightened his grip on Sophie's waist, his smile radiant: "Lena, this is my girlfriend Sophie. You should call her 'big sis' from now on, okay? Don't worry, I only see you as a little sister."

"Stop talking," I cut him off.

I walked closer, step by step.

Alex held Sophie's waist, his smile gradually fading.

I looked straight into his eyes.

With a smile on my face, I handed him the box: "Here, take this back."

Seeing the familiar bracelet, Alex's expression instantly soured: "What does this mean?"

"What does it mean?"

"Lena, you gave me this bracelet. What are you playing at by returning it?"

I smiled slightly: "Because it no longer means anything to me. You can keep it or throw it away, I don't care."

With that, I snatched the bracelet and turned to toss it into a nearby trash can.

I turned and walked away.

Leaving behind a group of stunned onlookers.

The rain suddenly started to fall.

I opened my umbrella and strolled along the riverside path.

Thinking back to the dream I'd been having for the past few days.

In the dream, Alex confessed to Sophie, I made a huge scene, and nearly lost my life.Meanwhile, Alex sauntered off after just five minutes, without a care in the world.

The Bennett family, displeased with my attitude, ordered me to drop out of school and dumped me back with my birth parents.

I was tortured to death.

It was the epitome of misery.

Recalling that unbearable agony, I felt an odd sense of relief.

Thank goodness it was just a dream.

Thank goodness the dream came true.

I have a chance to start over.
