I could almost hear the thunderous roar inside his head:
"You were about to jump off a damn bridge for me, and now you're telling me you don't love me?"
I looked him straight in the eyes and admitted frankly,
"That's right. I never considered doing something as stupid as jumping off a bridge for you."
"That night by the river, I was just looking for an excuse, waiting for Jaxon to come and take me away."
Dashiell froze, and it seemed like the whole world stopped spinning.
After a long pause, his eyes bulging with rage, he practically spat out each word:
"So that night in the dorm, the person sleeping in Jaxon's bed was you?"
I nodded calmly.
"Dashiell, I wish you happiness."
"Remember what I said that day? From now on, I'll never cling to you again."
"I'll never go back on those words."
With that, I didn't even spare him another glance.
I took Jaxon's hand, ready to leave:
"Aria, let's go. I want to see our new home."
