Kael's vision changed, and he was now standing in a black, endless space.
In front of him, a holographic image of himself half-naked could be seen rotating at constant speed.
It was a perfect replica of himself, and Kael could not see any difference.
His medium-length brown hair draped just above his eyebrows. His striking hazel eyes looked blank, as if possessing no soul.
Though not overly handsome, paired with his lean build built over scavenging items since he was young, Kael was definitely up there in terms of looks and appeal.
And all of it was perfectly replicated in the rotating avatar in front of him.
He did not know how it was made possible, but this has become common in today's age.
It has been decades since the first Virtual Dive Gear was invented, but up until today, the technology involved still seemed like magic and fantasy to him.
Since Vivian had already briefed him on what to do, Kael did not get lost and quickly created his in-game avatar.
Although this was not very important, Vivian still repeatedly reminded him that he should edit his avatar and not leave it as it is.
Following her instructions, Kael adjusted his avatar, mainly his looks and skin color, making it a little tanner. He did not change his height and weight as per Vivian's suggestion, as it might feel strange to him once inside the game.
He merely changed the little details in his appearance and touched nothing else.
After he was done, it showed that he had adjusted the avatar by ten percent.
This was the minimum adjustment that Vivian told him, so Kael stopped at that point.
After pressing the create button, another holographic window popped up in front of him.
[Please enter your name!]
Kael thought for a moment before entering 'Scavenger' as his name.
Since New Infinite was an online massive virtual reality game that uses one's brainwave to log in, his name was accepted without a problem.
Kael knew that in some online games, there could not be two or more players having the exact same name and that each name must be unique.
Fortunately, it doesn't seem to be the case in New Infinite. Like in the real world, two or more people having the same name or nickname was quite common.
After his name was accepted, another holographic screen popped up in front of him.
[Do you wish to proceed? Y/N?]
After pressing 'yes,' Kael's avatar exploded into a bright kaleidoscope of colors, forcing him to close his eyes due to the blinding brightness.
When he opened his eyes again, Kael realized that he was now under a blue and clear sky.
A moment of confusion flashed across his hazel eyes, but remembering that he was in a virtual reality game, clarity soon returned to it.
[Welcome to New Infinite, Scavenger!]
"This feels so real…" Kael muttered in amazement.
He looked at his hands curiously, feeling as if it was no different from real life.
"I can see why a lot of people are obsessed with such games."
By how much lifelike it was, it could literally be considered as having another life.
Looking around, Kael found himself in a dense forest.
Like what Vivian had said, he will be randomly transported to a random spot around the beginner area after creating his game character.
According to Vivian, the first thing he should do after arriving was to find the first city so that he can pin a save point.
"Right, she mentioned obtaining a random talent upon arriving in this world. I should check that first as well as my beginner stats before proceeding forward."
Kael was a complete beginner when it came to such games, so he was completely following Vivian's guide.
"Status," Kael muttered, and instantly, a holographic screen floated in front of him.
As he read his status information, Kael's eyes completely widened in surprise.
[Congratulations, you obtained the SSS-Grade Talent, Collector!]
Although he was a complete newbie, it doesn't mean that he had not heard of games before.
He was not completely oblivious to the ranks and rarity of items and talents in New Infinite, especially after Vivian repeatedly boasted about her A-Grade Talent to him earlier.
"Didn't she say that the highest is an S-Grade Talent?"
Although his talent has two more 'S' in the grade, Kael knew that this was definitely much better than the S-Grade Talent that Vivian has mentioned.
"Unbelievable! Could it be that I could really earn money in this game? With a high-grade talent like this, this should be able to help me earn more money, right?"
Vivian's confidence also lies in the fact that her A-Grade Talent was completely suited for crafting; hence, she could promise all that to Kael without any worries.
If this Collector talent of his was the same, and with his talent being a higher grade than that of Vivian, doesn't that mean that he would be able to earn more than her a few times over?
Just the thought of that completely elated Kael.
"Who's becoming an assistant of who?"
With a thought, Kael focused his gaze on the talent and began reading its description.
