Chapter 214: (Part 3) The Bloody Battle Against Mega Garchomp

"Go, Togekiss!"

"Kiss~!"

Togekiss soared into the skies once more.

Facing a Fairy-type that completely nullified Dragon-type moves, Mega Garchomp chose to intensify the sandstorm instead. The raging winds thickened, blotting out visibility and steadily chipping away at Togekiss' stamina.

"Dazzling Gleam!"

"Stone Edge!"

A brilliant beam of Fairy-type energy blasted from Togekiss' body, targeting Mega Garchomp—but before it could land, jagged stone pillars erupted from the battlefield, intercepting the attack perfectly.

Seeing her initial assault deflected, Togekiss quickly shifted tactics. The Dazzling Gleam morphed into a concentrated beam. In response, Mega Garchomp conjured a dozen razor-sharp stones and hurled them forward, intercepting and shattering the beam mid-air.

It looked like a deadlock. On the surface, Mega Garchomp appeared slightly pressured, but in truth, the one growing anxious was Togekiss—taking steady damage from the unrelenting sandstorm.

"Dragon Dance!"

Taking full advantage of the terrain, Mega Garchomp didn't rush in to attack. Instead, it leapt into a mysterious, fluid rhythm—its speed and strength visibly increasing.

"Don't let it finish!"

Togekiss wouldn't allow that to happen. She swiftly summoned two Aura Spheres and launched them toward Garchomp while sending a flurry of Air Slash blades to rain down from above.

"Dig!"

Mega Garchomp smashed the Aura Spheres mid-flight with its massive blades, then disappeared underground in a blur, dodging the Air Slash blades with ease.

At that moment, Lucas realized what Paul's strategy was—he was stalling. Either the sandstorm would wear down Togekiss, or he'd bait her into close range for the finishing blow.

Fairy-types may be immune to Dragon-type moves, but that didn't mean Mega Garchomp didn't have other tricks up its sleeve. Lucas knew better than to assume Paul's Mega Garchomp relied only on Dragon-type melee attacks.

"Nasty Plot!"

Within the howling storm, Togekiss began charging power—her special attack rising sharply.

"Stone Edge!"

Paul was ruthless. As soon as Mega Garchomp burst from the ground, it unleashed a barrage of jagged stones at Togekiss.

She didn't dodge. Instead, she remained focused on her Nasty Plot. Just as her special attack spiked dramatically, the Stone Edge attack landed squarely on her.

It's super effective!

The blow sent Togekiss crashing from the sky. She was barely hanging on.

"Baton Pass!"

Mid-air, Togekiss left behind a glowing white orb before vanishing in a beam of red light—returning to Lucas' Poké Ball.

"Clefable, you're up!"

The round, cuddly Clefable landed softly on the battlefield. The white orb left behind by Togekiss merged into her body, and a radiant glow surged—her special attack rising significantly.

"Blizzard!"

Clefable wasted no time. A fierce blizzard whipped across the battlefield, snow and ice swirling in a concentrated gale.

"Dig!"

But Mega Garchomp wasn't about to tank a hit like that. It swiftly burrowed underground again, tunneling straight beneath Clefable—and then exploded from the ground, sending her flying.

"GAAAAA!"

With a roar, Mega Garchomp launched into the air in pursuit. Its dual claws gleamed metallic as it struck down with Iron Head!

"Dazzling Gleam!"

Still airborne from the hit, Clefable fired a powerful beam of Fairy-type light at her assailant.

Gritting its teeth through the pain, Mega Garchomp's claws still came crashing down—slamming Clefable into the ground.

"Iron Head again!"

Mega Garchomp dove down for the finishing strike, its claws glowing once more.

"Protect! Follow up with Charm!"

At the last second, Clefable raised a shimmering shield, just barely blocking the Iron Head.

Then, as the attack failed to land, a few glowing hearts floated up from her body, drifting gently toward Mega Garchomp.

She was trying to charm it.

But Mega Garchomp—raging in its awakened, blood-fury state—barely flinched. The hearts stalled it for only a heartbeat before its wild eyes snapped back into focus. With a growl, it raised its claws again.

That brief hesitation was enough.

Lucas immediately returned the severely weakened Clefable to her Poké Ball, already prepared in hand.

At that moment, both Mega Garchomp and Paul showed a flicker of frustration. The battle had only just begun, and Lucas had already switched out his Pokémon multiple times.

"Gaaa…"

Mega Garchomp said nothing, instead silently willing the sandstorm to intensify further.

"He's switching again…"

Paul narrowed his eyes at Lucas. He couldn't tell if the guy was being calculating or just erratic.

"We'll need you later… Rest for now."

Lucas smiled down at the Poké Ball in his hand, speaking gently to Clefable before tossing out another.

"Go, Gliscor!"

"Waah~!"

Gliscor flipped 720° through the air before landing gracefully, supported by its tail. Purple gas seeped from its body—the signifying sign of Toxic.

Poison Heal—activated!

The moment it entered the field, Gliscor successfully poisoned itself to activate its healing ability.

"Dragon Dance."

Paul gave a calm command after glancing at the battered but still dangerous Mega Garchomp.

"Gaaa…"

Mega Garchomp began another Dragon Dance, its power and speed climbing once more.

"Swords Dance—then Guillotine!"

Gliscor's body spun rapidly in a deadly flourish, boosting its physical attack to dangerous levels. Then, with both massive pincers raised, it dove straight at Mega Garchomp.

"Dragon Claw!"

Mega Garchomp let out a fierce roar. As Gliscor swooped in from above, its claws gleaming with a cold metallic sheen, Mega Garchomp raised its glowing dragon claws to meet the attack head-on.

Clang!!

The moment their moves clashed, a shockwave exploded from the collision point. Mega Garchomp's Dragon Claw collided directly with Gliscor's Guillotine.

Despite being a risky one-hit KO move, Guillotine was countered by a direct force strong enough to avoid it—a testament to Mega Garchomp's overwhelming attack stat boosted by multiple Dragon Dances.

"Protect!"

Just as the aftershock spread out, Lucas gave another command. Gliscor immediately crossed its pincers, forming a shimmering protective barrier that shielded it from Mega Garchomp's follow-up attacks.

"Earthquake!"

Paul didn't hesitate. Knowing that Gliscor's Guillotine didn't land a hit, he immediately had Mega Garchomp strike back with a wide-range Ground-type move.

The battlefield trembled violently as massive ruptures tore through the ground, aiming to sweep Gliscor off its feet.

But just as the shockwave approached, Gliscor leapt into the air with a perfect backflip, dodging the full force of the Earthquake.

"Poison Jab!"

While airborne, Gliscor's fangs gleamed with venom as it swooped down from above, aiming right for Mega Garchomp's exposed back.

But Mega Garchomp responded in kind.

"Iron Head!"

With a fearsome snarl, Mega Garchomp turned and launched itself upward, forehead glowing with steely energy, clashing with Gliscor mid-air once again.

Both Pokémon were knocked back from the impact, landing on opposite sides of the field, panting from the high-intensity exchange.

But while Gliscor began to recover thanks to its Poison Heal ability, slowly regaining strength, Mega Garchomp remained locked in a brutal sandstorm of its own creation—its body already covered in cuts and bruises from the prolonged battle.

"Toxic Spikes!"

Taking advantage of the brief pause, Lucas called out a setup move.

Gliscor spun rapidly in place, scattering purple needles across the battlefield. Sharp, toxic spikes embedded themselves into the ground around Mega Garchomp's side of the field.

Paul narrowed his eyes. He understood the plan: Lucas was laying the groundwork for another switch—forcing any future Pokémon Paul sent out to be poisoned the moment they touched the field.

He had to finish this fast.

"Stone Edge!"

With a roar, Mega Garchomp stomped the ground, summoning jagged stones that shot upward like a wall of blades toward Gliscor.

"Acrobatics!"

With impeccable timing, Gliscor's wings flared and it darted through the air, weaving between the flying stones, its light and unburdened form making it nearly untouchable.

Then, in a sudden burst of speed, Gliscor closed the gap in an instant and slammed into Mega Garchomp with blinding force.

Critical hit!

Mega Garchomp staggered back from the blow, kneeling for just a moment—its breath ragged, and body trembling.

Yet even in that state, its eyes still burned with unyielding ferocity.

"...Outrage."

Paul's voice was calm, yet heavy with finality.

A red aura erupted around Mega Garchomp's body.

Its pupils shrank.

Its movements became erratic and wild.

The battlefield trembled under the raw, chaotic power of Outrage.

Like a berserker unleashed, Mega Garchomp roared and lunged at Gliscor with a flurry of savage, uncontrolled strikes.

Gliscor tried to dodge, tried to shield—but the sheer speed and violence of the attack overwhelmed it.

With a final and brutal slam, Gliscor was sent flying, crashing into a boulder on Lucas' side of the field.

It didn't rise.

"Gliscor is unable to battle. Mega Garchomp wins!"

Lucas remained silent for a few seconds.

Then, he slowly picked up another Poké Ball.

"Alright…" he murmured, eyes narrowed.

"You've pushed me far enough."
