Staring at the character status screen floating in front of his eyes, Twilight was dazed for a good minute. It all felt… overwhelming.
First was his last name. It was displayed on the screen as Sorrow, which greatly confused him as that wasn't part of his name. Even back at the academy's Sacred Ground, the sovereign system had recognised him as Twilight Nightfall. Yet now, it displayed him as Twilight Sorrow.
It was simply absurd.
'Could it be…' Twilight's thoughts trailed off.
It was possible that his nickname had somehow become his last name in the Astral Realm. Though he doubted such a thing was even possible — no one had ever explained it to him — this was the only answer he could think of.
The other possibilities were simply too far-fetched, and he dismissed them at once.
Then there was the issue of his race. Doom Elf? Did such a species even exist? And weren't elves supposed to have long ears?
Twilight let out a light chuckle, shaking his head. Now, he was certain — the sovereign system had made a huge mistake when compiling his status.
Laughing it off, he shifted his focus to the rest of his status screen. The moment his gaze landed on the 'Abyssal Core Cultivation Base' and 'Spirit Heart Cultivation Base' sections, a bittersweet smile twisted his lips.
This was exactly what he had discovered about his Abyssal Core and Spirit Heart. Back on Earth, when he had attempted to cultivate, his magical — or rather, Abyssal — domain hadn't expanded at all, nothing had happened to it.
Instead, the spirit qi he absorbed had merely served as nourishment for his useless fragmented vital core, doing nothing to increase his cultivation base.
It was in frustration and desperation that he discovered his so-called Spirit Heart could absorb spirit qi to enhance his strength. But with the fragmented core siphoning most of the qi, his cultivation speed had plummeted, leaving him no choice but to focus on training his body in anger.
However, Twilight knew that if he could find a way to cultivate his Abyssal Core, he would be twice as strong as a normal cultivator — after all, he had two sources of power.
The thought alone excited him, yet after countless attempts, he had eventually given up.
Shaking his head to dispel such unnecessary thoughts, he lowered his gaze — and his eyes widened in shock.
He had two talents!
Dual-talent wielders were exceedingly rare — perhaps only one emerged every generation or two. In fact, from what he had heard, only two such individuals had ever been recorded on Earth. That alone spoke volumes about their rarity.
After all, the Astral Realm had only descended seventy years ago. If one did the calculations, merely three generations had passed since then — yet in all that time, only two people had possessed dual talents.
Overwhelming joy surged through Twilight as he realised he was the third.
Without hesitation, he tapped on the talent section, eager to see the full details of his newfound abilities.
---
[Talent: [Spirit Ruler]
[Rank: Primordial
[Talent Abilities: [Spirit Manipulation]
[Ability Description: You can command the spirits of all living beings, and the spirit qi in the air bends to your will.]
[Talent: [Abyss Walker]
[Rank: Astral
[Talent Abilities: [Abyssal Bind]
[Ability Description: Summon Abyssal chains from the abyss to bind your enemies. The greater your mental strength, the more chains you can call upon.]
---
As Twilight read through the information, his jaw dropped in disbelief. Not only were his two abilities incredible, but their ranks seemed almost impossible to him.
Astral… Primordial!
There were seven known talent ranks: Mortal, Profound, Earth, Sky, Ethereal, Divine, and Astral. However, Alice had recently revealed to him that there were two more, hidden from the public: Celestial and Primordial.
Just having an Earth-grade talent would be enough to make any empire treat the person as a genius.
Yet here he was, with two talents at the highest ranks. The Astral-grade Abyss Walker talent alone would mark him as an exceptional genius.
The Primordial-grade Spirit Ruler talent, however, would make him a target for life. To submit or die — Twilight was certain of that.
As the shock began to fade, Twilight's gaze moved downwards once more.
---
Physique: [Divine Assimilation Physique]
Grade: Primordial
---
'Another Primordial Grade,' Twilight murmured, gulping. By now, he was beginning to wonder if Primordial-grade items were really as rare as Lillian and Alice had made them out to be.
Unlike his talents, however, there was no description for the physique, leaving him to figure it out on his own later.
His eyes scanned his stats, and three things stood out. First, the boosts in parentheses.
It didn't take a genius to realise that these boosts to his stats were likely caused by the black leather armour he wore.
'As expected of a supernatural weapon,' Twilight thought, amazed.
Most of his stats had been boosted by 30, while some had more than that. It was simply incredibly, especially as the armour had boosted almost all stats, meaning the stronger he grew, the more boosts he would receive.
This was beyond awesome!
As for the other two:
---
[Fate: 1700]
[Wisdom: 2,041]
---
These two stats were not only ridiculously high, but their names caught Twilight's attention. He had heard of the wisdom stat before, but the fate stat was completely new to him.
Normally, one would possess a 'luck' stat, yet he had no such thing — only the fate stat. Curious, he squinted, zooming in to read their descriptions for more details.
---
[Fate: 1700]
[Description: The higher your fate points, the more you are bound by fate, and must follow its path. This can bring great benefits or fatal harm. The lower your fate points, the more you stray from your fate, which can lead to disastrous consequences — or minimal good fortune.]
[Wisdom: 2,041]
[Description: Your understanding of techniques and qi efficiency improves greatly the higher your wisdom stat.]
---
'Crap! I'll be damned!' Twilight shuddered as a chill crawled down his spine upon reading the ominous description of the fate stat.
It was clearly a double-edged sword, and he couldn't help but wonder who had meddled with his stats. First, it was his name, then his race, and now... his stats.
And to make matters worse, his fate stat was ridiculously high, suggesting that this library was somehow tied to his fate.
At this thought, Twilight smacked his forehead.
Of course, his fate stat would be high. After all, he'd been sent here — it was clearly part of his destiny. Why wouldn't his fate stat be high?
And the fact that the stat could also decrease was no laughing matter. A stat that could both reduce and increase whenever he strayed away from his fate or followed what it planned for him?
If he told anyone that, they would laugh it off as a silly joke from a lunatic.
Letting out a quiet sigh, he read the wisdom stat description, and his eyes brightened. His wisdom stat was the highest — higher even than his fate — and its potential was nothing short of divine.
To a cultivator, how quickly they could learn techniques was vital, as it could save days to weeks of cultivation.
This wisdom stat was essentially the backbone of a cultivator's growth, and methods to increase it were highly sought after. Yet it was one of the stats that wouldn't increase as one grew stronger.
Even so, here he was, with a starting point over 2000.
It was simply unbelievable.
Though Twilight couldn't suppress his joy, he knew he had to finish the creature off quickly.
If it woke up, it would be much harder to kill than if he ambushed it while it was still asleep.
Taking a deep breath, he readied himself. After a few more preparations, he began to stealthily approach the snoring Night Wing.
