Ex in Distress

Amy's POV

I was merely a pawn in the game of two wealthy men, and my desire for the lifestyles they both offered had worked against me. During our plan to destroy Dave and take what was his, I fell in love with Charles. I had no idea he was merely exploiting me because my love for him had completely obscured my ability to think. I honestly believed that both men loved me and that I would win whatever, when the news of Dave's wedding broke, I wasn't surprised. He was distant and refused to divulge to the media that I was his fiancée. I was with him for two years and he kept me a secret.

I felt like a side chick that he treated too well, and now it's a reality. I still had Charles, the father of my child. I was two weeks pregnant, and all I could think about was beginning a family with Charles, as he promised after Dave perished. We'd begin our lives together during the media frenzy. I went to see Charles, and he suggested I do one more thing for him before we start our family: contact the media and tell them I was Dave's genuine fiancée and he cheated on me with a harlot from the Elite club. I did as I was told, and we spent the night together, celebrating Dave's collapse.

In all honesty, I had nothing against Dave; despite his infidelity, he was kind and compassionate. After Dave eventually reversed the situation and revealed that he was spending the day at the Elite club with his real fiancée, Charles lost it and beat me mercilessly. I took care to protect my tummy from his blows. The villa where I stayed was the place Charles and I would meet in private, his ire only intensified after Dave's fiancée was made public. After chasing me out of the villa, he threw large sums of money at me to abort the child and declared he would never see me again.

I went to my former flat after taking the money as I would need it. Dave refused to answer the phone when I called him. All of my attempts to get in touch with him were unsuccessful, and I left multiple voicemails and messages. Since I knew the passcodes to a number of his locations, I made the decision to just wait for him at his houses. However, his security immediately altered the passcodes, preventing me from entering his property without authorisation.

I heard from a good friend who was organising the gala banquet that he would be attending that he had added extra security to ensure that I was not allowed in, so I called my boss and asked that I accompany him, and he agreed because I am a well-known lawyer and my presence would enhance his reputation. We arrived for the banquet early and carefully observed Dave, his fiancée, and Charles. I was ready to pursue Dave's fiancée, when I was brought into a room and instructed to wait for Dave.
