Chapter 5

I gazed at Barbara with icy eyes, inquiring, "Should I offer an apology?"

Daniel assisted Barbara onto the couch, positioning himself protectively in front of her.

"Louisa, don't you think you should say sorry? Where are your manners?" he asked me frostily.

Indeed, I lacked etiquette.

I loathed seeing Barbara and him together at those gatherings.

I was jealous of their constant daily communications.

I couldn't help but scan Barbara's Instagram, noting her posts about the numerous events she attended with Daniel.

Nevertheless, I could endure it all.

I could be placated as long as he returned and clarified things, assuring me their bond was strictly professional.

Each instance, I opted to trust him.

This time, however, I felt like making a fuss.

Yet, I found myself too weary to do so.

Roger's passing made me realize I wasn't as resilient as I'd believed.

"I'm going. The divorce documents are in your office. Sign them and inform me," I stated.
