Chapter 10

I scanned the area, searching for Daniel, and eventually located him across the field.

As I approached, he gazed at me intently.

"It's been a while."

I gave a brief nod, not feeling up for idle chatter or reminiscing.

"You look stunning today."

His comment caught me off guard.

Due to the hectic pace of my design project, I hadn't washed my hair in days, concealed it with a cap, and wore a simple tee.

I was far from well-groomed.

Daniel, being meticulous about appearance, shouldn't have approved of my current state.

He revealed a bouquet from behind his back, seemingly bought at the field moments ago.

"Only delphiniums were available. I chose them carefully, hoping you'd appreciate them."

I accepted the flowers.

They were undeniably pretty, but not to my taste.

Much like Daniel himself - admirable, but no longer what I desired.

"Let's set a date and finalize the divorce promptly," I stated resolutely.

Daniel persisted in feigning ignorance.
