Three days passed before we brought Adrian back to the villa. I continued to look after him attentively, but the mood in the house grew increasingly somber. Abigail's disposition had soured considerably, and she desperately clung to the doctor's opinions.

The physician, lacking any concrete solutions, made an unusual proposal. "Mr. Winslow seems plagued by misfortune. First the automobile collision, then the tumble down the staircase. Perhaps a ritual to enhance his luck might improve his circumstances."

Abigail frowned but appeared intrigued. "What sort of ritual?"

The doctor hesitated before continuing, "I've heard that marriages can bring tremendous good fortune. Perhaps organizing a wedding ceremony for Mr. Winslow could alter his luck."

Amanda, ever the optimist, immediately embraced the idea. "A wedding? That's brilliant! Let's do it for him!"
