Chapter 8

"I implore you, please, for the memory of our past, allow me to keep the child!"

Bernard scoffed coldly. "Your gravest error was pursuing Jane. You were well aware that she means everything to me! It's because of you that she departed. You're facing the consequences you deserve!"

With those words, he turned his back and left, disregarding Kate's cries and entreaties, not even casting a single look her way.

As soon as he exited the hospital, his phone vibrated with a call from an acquaintance. "Wasn't the last time enough? Well, I've discovered some new ladies for you this evening!"

Bernard chose to numb his pain with liquor.

Previously, he relished these raucous nights. But now, regardless of how much he consumed or celebrated, it felt hollow. Nothing could fill the gap she had left.

At present, his heart felt barren, and he couldn't summon interest in anything.

Several alluring women approached him, but he didn't even acknowledge them. He uttered a single word coldly. "Go."
