Chapter 6:- Mess (Miette)

I couldn't believe what I just saw, Reo beating the lights out of Justice.

I didn't know why he was doing it but he was so full of rage and bloodlust that if left alone he could have killed him.

Yuki was there as well trying to stop Reo but he pushed her onto the ground.

(So this is who you are Reo? Justice was right about you, how low will you go?)

I wanted to go there and slap the fuck out of him, I never thought like this towards anyone but right now...

(I wish you were...)

This much blood on his hands, his clothes, and his face surely made him look like a monster.

I clapped at his achievement and he turned to look at me.

A shiver went down my spine as I saw pitch darkness in his eyes. They were so deep that I wanted to look away, yet I couldn't.

I decided to face him and word my honest feelings.

"Miette, wha-"

It was Yuki who called out to me first.

"I heard some cries and I came to see it. No wonder you are a monster. I thought you were a nice person, you know. It was just your antisocial personality which was poor. Yet I wanted to believe that you are a good person. In the end, you are just pathetic Reo. Assaulting Yuki over here and when Justice came to her rescue, beating him. How could you? Pushing a girl around, punching someone out of senses, just how low can you get Reo? You are just some punk and I am not afraid of you, you wanna molest me? Do it? DO IT? JUST LEAVE MY FRIENDS ALONE."

(I felt so bad saying such things to a classmate but I don't care because he deserves it all. I wish the worst for him.)

"Miette, you are mis-"

"You don't have to say anything, Yuki. I saw everything, from him punching Justice to pushing you on the ground, this isn't a guy, but a monster."

While I said this Reo just looked at the ground

His hands were in front of him with blood dripping from it. He didn't even try to wipe it off his face and just looked down.

His steps were heavy because of the realization. He picked up his bag and decided to leave with some rude and well-suited parting words, not for me but for Yuki.

Such a coward.

I hurried to Justice and tried to help Yuki turn him as he was about to suffocate in his blood. His jaw was broken open and his cheeks were ripped apart. His one ear was cut but he was treatable with current medical technology.

I performed basic procedures and stopped his bleeding. For further care, we carefully took him to the medic. I was so pissed at Reo that I didn't even want to see him.

Yuki was helping me take Justice but she seemed highly unwilling and she even dropped him to pick up something from the floor.

"Hey, watch it carefully!!!" I shouted at her to which she only glared at me silently.

(What is with her?)

After taking her to the medic I went to search for our homeroom teacher. I found him by the stairs with his bag and checkout pass. Maybe he was leaving. I called out to him and told him everything.

"Sir, J-Justice is in bad condition. He is brutally beaten by Reo."

"Reo? He did that?"

"Why do you seem surprised sir? He is a fucking monster, he was about to kill Justice."

"Watch your language Miette and let me see him first."

I apologised and led him to the medic where he lay an unconscious Justice.

Mr. Lee was flabbergasted after watching Justice's condition. He immediately called for the authorities to fetch Reo from his house when-

"Wait a second, teacher." It was none other than Yuki who asked the teacher to stop.

"Why are you sto-"

"Please don't interfere right now Miette"

She was too serious and went ahead to talk to the teacher alone.

After around 3 minutes they came back while I sat there holding Justice's hand.

When they returned, Justice came back to their senses.

"Wh- ahh"

He was in too much pain.

(Curse you Reo, I'll never forget the real face you just showed me.)

"Justice, do you want to file a complaint against Reo? If you do so, we will drop by his house and arrest him. Serious charges will be placed on him if yo-"

"No"

What the hell?

"Okay"

"What 'okay' sir? He should be charged with attempted murder and assault, he should be kil-"

(I couldn't believe what I just said but maybe I was too impulsive.)

"Please keep your mouth shut when you don't know a goddamn thing", Yuki said in a bitter tone.

She was my friend yet she said I didn't know a thing when I saw everything with my own eyes. Her eyes were still all watery and her voice trembled while saying it.

"Yuki you don't have to defen-"

"Miette, let's go home."

"Bu-"

"She's right Miette, it's getting late, go home."

The teacher instructed us to leave and we did so. I glanced over at Justice once again while leaving and saw that his face didn't have that shine it did earlier.

Yuki didn't speak a single word until I reached my house. Finally, she decided to say something.

"I heard you live quite close to Reo, I want you to return something to him."

"I don't want to see that creeper's face ever again. Throw anything you have with yourself for him."

"If you don't, I will. Can you tell me what his house number is?"

Why is she doing all this?

"You don't have to force yourself, Yuki. I know what you have bee-"

"Reo did everything for you. And you treated him like shit. Congrats there"

(This was seriously outrageous, how could she even say something like that?)

"Yo-you seriously need help"

"Enough! Miette, I can understand that everything you saw made you misunderstand the situation but I won't even try to make it better. Just tell me his house number so I can visit him once if not then take this...

She handed me a phone. I could recognize that it was Reo's phone.

...and if you feel like knowing the whole truth, search the last recording in it."

I couldn't believe what I was hearing. I told her that he lived next door and she left.

I went inside my home and couldn't get what Yuki said out of my head.

I went through his phone and checked the last recorded file. I opened it and clicked on play.

Around 30 minutes later, I stopped the recording around my part, where I was cursing at Reo for being a monster.

I couldn't sense anything, how stupid can I be? He was trying to protect me from the real monster all this time. How could he see my path, my life, my choices better than me He never had any malicious intent for me...

God, what have I done !!!!

Tears rolled down my eyes and broke down in my room. It was all my fault.

I decided to beg for forgiveness immediately. I went outside and ran towards Reo's house. His gate was wide open.

I went looking for him in every room on the ground floor but couldn't find him. At last, I went upstairs and saw an open door. I entered it and saw Reo lying on the floor.

Tears surfaced again the moment I saw Reo. He was just looking at the roof and didn't notice me coming in. I walked across the room and sat by his face.

His eyes were the same dark ones I saw earlier. Infinite void and nothing else. It felt like even light could not reflect anything.

"Reo ?" I said so quietly and his face turned towards me.

He gave me no response, just stood up and wore a T-shirt thrown by his bed.

"R-R, I am s-"

"Leave"

He just seemed to hate me, I have never minded anything he said but this word alone had so much hate in it that I couldn't bear holding back.

I cried and cried, and cried. I hated myself for being so mean to him without even knowing the whole thing. I held his shirt and asked for forgiveness. After about a minute he finally spoke.

"Who is the real you, Miette?"

"W-what do you mean?"

It was honestly confusing and an out-of-the-blue question.

"Whom should I believe in, Miette? What you say there or what you are saying right now ?"

(My heart shattered into a thousand pieces without even making a sound. Those words alone were so hurting that I just stopped thinking about anything but it.)

"Not even crying anymore?"

I didn't realize that I stopped crying at that question. The reason wasn't his cold nature. It was his smile. He smiled at me while saying this. I have never seen such a cold smile ever in my life. My soul dropped dead and I didn't think about anything else.

(His smile stands as the prettiest thing I ever wish to see again.)

"If you ask me what to believe, I will not believe anything as you and I are done, probably forever. I mean isn't this what you wanted as well? I surely am a monster, everything you said was correct. I won't believe anything you just said right now. Switching your gears so quickly, you sure are skillful. Sorry if I said anything rude to you in the past or right now, but just know that I won't be associating with you anymore until it's a no-escape scenario."

"Re.."

I stood up while saying so with tears rolling down my eyes again.

I hurt a guy who tried to protect me. We surely aren't meant to be together yet I will not forgive myself for thinking he was the bad guy. I turned back and ran downstairs where I saw Yuki go up with a first aid kit in her hand.

"Wha-wh..."

"Calm down Miette, d-drink som-some water"

I couldn't bear anything anymore and I hugged Yuki so tight and cried my heart out. This has been such a big scene and I was going to make it even bigger by trying to frame Reo on the charges of murder and assault.

After a few more minutes I asked her why she was taking the kit.

"Reo broke his pinky finger while beating that garbage"

I took the first aid kit with me and went up. Yuki wasn't giving me the First aid but I snatched it from her.

I will do anything to obtain his forgiveness and repent for my actions.
