The silence of the battlefield 1

KELLY THOMPSON'S POV

In a brilliant explosion of light, the darkness shattered, and the Black Faes were thrown back into the shadows from whence they came. Baddy's shrieks of fury echoed in the air as he was forced to retreat, his power diminished and his malevolent presence momentarily vanquished. The battlefield, once chaotic and filled with the sounds of clashing steel and desperate cries, fell silent. The oppressive weight of the darkness lifted, replaced by the faint glow of the moonlight breaking through the clouds.

As the dust settled, I remained on my knees, breathless and overwhelmed with a mix of exhaustion and elation. I scanned the faces of my warriors, each one reflecting the same bewildered disbelief that we had triumphed once again. They were battered but unbroken, their spirits ignited by the light of our hard-fought victory.
