The Plan

Jake Mitchell leaned forward, his fingers tapping rhythmically on the edge of the table. The dimly lit café buzzed around them, but in their small corner, the world felt focused, as if everything else had faded into the background. The blueprint, hastily sketched on a napkin, sat in front of him, a crude outline of the school they were about to infiltrate.

"Alright," Jake said, his voice low but urgent. "Listen carefully."

The group leaned in, their faces shadowed by curiosity. Andy, always quick to voice his skepticism, raised an eyebrow as he glanced at the diagram.

"What's this?" he scoffed, staring at the scribbles. "Are you serious? This looks like a bad doodle."

Jake shot him a smile, unbothered by the criticism. "I'm not an artist," he replied casually. "But this is the blueprint of the school."

Andy shook his head but continued to listen. Jake's plan was always full of surprises, even if it seemed far-fetched at first.

"This green cross with the circle? That's the camera," Jake explained, pointing to the diagram. "And the purple lines represent the walls, which are—well, they're pretty tall."

Andy still seemed doubtful. "Okay… and what exactly are we supposed to do with this 'amazing' plan?"

Jake leaned in closer, lowering his voice. "We don't need any outside help. We can handle the cameras ourselves."

Andy let out a short laugh. "Right. And how are we supposed to get past those tall walls? You gonna give us wings to fly over them?"

Jake chuckled, shaking his head. "No, no. We'll make a human pyramid. We'll climb over the wall."

Sebastian, who had been quietly observing, frowned. "But if we do that, only one of us is going to make it over the top."

Jake nodded slowly, his eyes gleaming with a mix of excitement and confidence. "Exactly. One person. And once they're over, they'll be able to climb down the other side. There's a tree near the wall that'll make the descent easier."

Sebastian shook his head, unconvinced. "That's a terrible idea. What if something goes wrong?"

Andy crossed his arms. "Yeah, I'm not sold on this one, Jake."

Jake didn't falter. "Why not? It's foolproof."

Sebastian's voice grew more insistent. "The windows have bars on them, Jake. We can't squeeze through those. We're not kids anymore."

Jake's expression shifted slightly, then brightened. "But Dave can. He's small enough to fit through."

At that moment, Dave, who had been listening quietly, stood up, ready to take on whatever Jake threw his way. "Alright, I'm in. Let's do this."

Andy's skepticism softened, but he wasn't completely on board yet. "Fine, you've got him. But what about me? Why am I not going?"

Jake shrugged, grinning. "You're the topper. You don't need to cheat."

Andy snorted. "Yeah, right. I'm too smart for this."

Jake, undeterred, straightened up. "So, we're all set then. Meet at 1:00 AM tonight. Don't be late."

"Fine," Andy said, pushing himself back from the table. "Let's see how this goes."

Dave gave a short wave as he followed Andy toward the door. "Bye."

Sebastian, still uncertain, stood up last, throwing a playful punch at Jake. "You sure this is going to work?"

Jake smirked and returned the gesture. "Of course. Don't worry, Sebastian, we've got this."

As the group split off, heading in different directions, the weight of the plan settled in. They were committed now. No turning back. The night ahead was filled with danger, excitement, and the promise of adventure. Their bond was strong, and nothing—nothing—could stop them now.
