The Unseen Return

The tension in the air was thick as Vault glared at Sebastian, holding the dagger in his hand with an almost deadly calm. "Do you think I'm an idiot?" he sneered, taking a step closer to Sebastian.

Sebastian froze, his eyes locked on the gleaming blade in Vault's hand. His pulse quickened, and he swallowed hard. "See, Will Smith flying with bats?" he said suddenly, trying to distract Vault, his voice trembling.

Vault raised an eyebrow, momentarily confused. "Where?" he asked, looking around.

It was enough. Without waiting for a second longer, Sebastian turned on his heel and bolted. His feet pounded against the ground as he ran, but the sound of Vault's footsteps echoed louder behind him.

"Where will you run now?" Vault's voice rang out, sinister and mocking.

Sebastian didn't stop. He glanced left, then right, but there was nowhere to go. A dead end. The walls loomed higher, trapping him.

Vault smirked, advancing slowly toward Sebastian. "So, what will you do now?"

Sebastian, his mind racing, stood still for a moment. Then, without warning, he shrugged and said, "Nothing."

Vault's grin faded slightly, his eyes narrowing. "You think that's enough?" He shook his head, drawing his dagger from his pocket. "You're really testing my patience, Seb."

Suddenly, a sound broke through the tense atmosphere—Jake's voice. "We could also work together."

Before Vault could react, Jake lunged at him, the cold steel of a knife sinking deep into Vault's back. Vault's eyes went wide in shock as he staggered forward.

"You... you..." Vault gasped, unable to finish the sentence.

Jake stepped back, watching as Vault crumpled to the ground. "Sleep tight," Jake muttered coldly.

Sebastian watched, a dark humor flickering in his eyes as he chuckled. "So, are we going to tell your father anything about this?"

Jake's face tightened, his voice low. "No, otherwise he won't ever let me leave the house again."

Sebastian grinned. "As you wish." He turned and started to walk away. "Bye."

"Bye," Jake replied, his voice almost as cold as the knife he'd just used. "Let's meet tomorrow. And don't say anything to anyone."

As Sebastian and Jake left the scene, a grim silence fell over the area.

Back at Vault's location, moments later

Andy stirred, groaning in pain. His hand reached for his back, feeling the bloodstains on his shirt. "Does it hurt?" he whispered weakly, still disoriented.

Vault, whose face was pale and covered in sweat, managed a pained chuckle. "A bit," he muttered.

The Next Day

Jake and Sebastian met up again, their minds still reeling from the night before. As they walked down the street, Jake spoke, his voice full of worry. "Hey, Seb, I think their bodies would be easily viewable by others."

Sebastian nodded, a serious expression on his face. "Yep, let's check what happened."

"Okay," Jake replied, feeling a sudden sense of dread.

When they reached the location, the scene they expected wasn't what they found.

"What?" Sebastian exclaimed, his eyes scanning the area. "Where are the bodies?"

Jake's phone buzzed, and he pulled it out with trembling hands. He stared at the screen in disbelief. A message from an unknown number flashed before his eyes: "HE MY DEAR BFF HOW R U"

"No," Jake whispered, his breath catching in his throat. "This can't be happening."

Sebastian turned to him, his expression suddenly full of concern. "They're alive?"

Jake's face turned ashen. "Yes," he muttered, the realization hitting him like a punch to the gut. "They're alive."

The plot had thickened, and the danger they had thought was behind them was now even closer than before.
