"They acted as if you were their angel,"
Aster commented as we walked through the streets of Vero City.
'He was talking about the bow from Harry and others…'
Since it was useless to hide that they were just mere workers who came under me, I told him what he just needed to know.
"They are bandits that tried to rob me and I was there to give them a lifetime of lessons. Look how they turned into a new leaf,"
Aster seemed to remember how those scary-looking bandits worked at the shop being scared by someone like me.
However, a look of affirmation appeared on his face as if that was natural to happen instead of being suspicious about it.
He glanced in my direction and nodded.
"Okay, what are we going to do about now?"
Remembering how I've researched in the past, I began to give some details that could determine the condition Aster has.
"First, I'm going to need a drop of your blood, see the current condition of your mana, the changes that happened when you received the demon's influence—we're going to call it that way, and finally, see if your condition had already happened in the past,"
This was only the surface of what we were going to do but the deeper we venture into his condition, many things will be tweaked and changed.
"So this is why we're in a store? To buy things?"
I gazed around the establishment we were in to buy the things we needed for our experiment.
It's going to be pricey and it's going to be a lot.
The reason why though is because I don't want to take any second chances.
If we're going to do this, we're going to do it the first time.
"You're damn right. Now, let's find the things necessary in this shop first. Then, we can move to other shops available if some things are unavailable here."
Aster shrugged as the expert when it comes to knowing his mana condition is me, and it's probably the best choice he could've made in his lifetime.
…
-"Where the hell did you even get the money from?"
-Carrying the necessary items for our experiment, I pondered for a bit and answered back.
-"Just some pocket money I've earned. Besides, why are you even that?"
In exchange for your unyielding help, money can be recuperated back.
In today's age, I prefer using someone in a case of a favor rather than a paid person.
So for the love of god, please don't think deeply about why I am heavily invested in this.
Using you as a leeway for helping will not come out of my mouth no matter what.
Aster seemed to have also had enough of asking… for a brief few seconds.
His gaze fell forward.
"Will we do this on your house?"
I shook my head.
"Too risky. I know a place we can use that is very far away from my parent's house. We'll be using it,"
Aster didn't seem to have any more additional inquiries as we focused our heads on carrying our equipment carefully.
Eventually, the place I had mentioned appeared on our front.
It was an abandoned house that was already beyond repair.
As we went deeper further, small creaks resounded each step. If not for a few pillars that helped the house stay motionless, it would've already fallen a long time ago.
Now all I had to do was to reinforce those pillars with a few supporting spells that could help it retain that way as we moved to our experiment.
"Let's start right away. Your job is to arrange those items on the ground while I take care of the house so that it would not fall when things get hectic,"
Without even raising another question, Aster separated from me and began to follow the order I'd given.
I brought down the materials my hands carried and went to one of the wooden yet creakily pillars.
Placing my hand at one of them, I pondered what spell I should use to keep it reinforced and decided to do a simpler magic.
"Fortification,"
Once I saw the result of the wooden pillar faintly glowing, my next destination went to the nearby structure and did the same thing.
I've only reinforced those pillars that could really withstand the house once a little tremor shook the entire premises.
The ones that were there but merely frail in comparison were ignored knowing my spell wouldn't even matter if things got hectic.
The progress continued on both of our sides.
However, the situation begins to change when Aster starts acting weird.
It immediately caught my attention, leaving my focus divided.
Clank—!
Though, all I did was ignore him instead of approaching to ask.
'His mana is fluctuating weirdly,'
Whoosh—!
Suddenly Aster lunged toward my direction while wielding a flask in his hand from our materials and broke it along the way to make a glass shard.
Once he was in my front, my hands skillfully placed on the hand that carries the shard while creating a spell on my other hand.
"Metal Chains,"
A 'circle' appeared in the air before chains shot forward, wrapping themselves around Aster whose pupils became vertical while letting out a hideous foul breath.
"Puny… human!"
Even the voice was different from the usual innocent and calm tone that Aster was using.
It made me convinced that it was the Demon that infected Aster when he was venturing to its lair.
It then continued.
"Whatever you're doing, a lowly kid like you isn't going to stop my descent into the world! I will finally be free! Kuhahaha!"
Tak—!
Slapping Aster's face to remove that annoying laugh the demon was letting out, a thought came to my mind after the demon just revealed one important factor.
'I'm not too late…'
Letting out a sigh, I smirked.
"Hey, you demon. You are quite dumb, aren't you? I'm guessing that you aren't good-looking as well. That's just… sad! Hahahaha, who would want an ugly-stupid-looking demon descent in this world?"
The demon inside Aster seemed to snap after that little provocation as he used Aster's innocent face to let out hideous words.
"You fucker! I'll promise you'll be the first one I kill after I am freed. Danath, The Sigil of Misfortune, you puny human will die by my hands! You'll see!"
Danath… Sigil of Misfortune… what a title.
I still have the best one though.
Wanting to provoke the demon a little bit further to grab some information, my lips curled upwards in the most annoying way to keep the demon, Danath, not thinking.
"If you're freed, you would've done it already ago. All you had to do was leave the castle, you know? However, you died at the hands of a human and made a desperate move by transferring your power to him to gamble. How come you're the one misfortunate bastard here? That's quite… absurd! To reduce to such a state… I would've killed myself"
Danath, the demon inside Aster, got even more enraged.
My plan to rile him up seemed to be working.
"You don't know anything! The castle is a shackle that has been put by those freaking Seraphims! But it didn't mean we weren't capable of fighting back! We killed every single one of them, but we only got imprisoned! But guess what, we're coming back to the surface after all that shit that happened! Humans, you are done!"
My eyes widened once that information surfaced in my hands.
Seraphim and Demons… these are subjects that haven't been much regarded in my time due to any lack of evidence.
However, there are traces… that sadly haven't been pursued as the churches regarded the talks of this matter as blasphemous.
'It would amuse me if I told those churches the things they were worshipping have been long gone. Some of those oldies would really faint on the spot,'
Considering that idea inside my head, I looked at Danath and wanted to consider learning more about everything.
But it made Aster's condition unknown to me.
I'm afraid that the longer I prolong, the more Aster's body to be influenced by the demon.
"I've learned so much about you,"
Raising my hand into the air, I smiled wickedly.
"Sadly, this has to end."
I paused.
"We'll meet soon anyways if our fates are linked,"
Looking at the demon who was confused about the situation but still enraged, I swung my hand and landed a painful punch that was enough to put him to sleep.
Letting out a sigh, words escaped my lips.
"Is this the reason why you did it, Arcane? Put me back five hundred years later?"
Leaving that mystery of reincarnation aside, I begin to prepare the experiment.
