Deal With The Archbishop

The Sword and Magistry Academy wouldn't have allowed such makeshift camps to spread around in front of their yard.

But we're talking about the Holy Church here.

Shooing them away just because of some petty reason might be a sign that they can start a war with them.

With those prideful geezers and high egos surrounding the church, a little bit of disrespect that rubs them off is nothing but an insult to their church as well.

How do I know a lot about them?

Well, I've been dealing with their kind since I was the Emperor.

It's a bunch of small fries that can be pretty annoying at some times.

And adding the fact that the students were curious as to why the Holy Church is here made the roads and streets busier.

This was the reason why we got stuck in heavy traffic.

"We've been here for half an hour now. It didn't look like we're going to be moving soon…"

Aster stated right beside me who was with him in the driver's seat while watching the scene of carriages and cars getting stuck around.

"This is getting us nowhere,"

After voicing out my own thoughts, I looked beside my seat.

"Find someone to fetch us,"

Aster seemed to be realizing his role while being with me but the only reaction he did while receiving that order was a short annoyed sigh.

He still went down to find someone from the church's camp.

"Brother, did you make the Holy Church come to the Academy?"

Scratching my head, I answered abruptly.

"Kind of. Don't worry, it's not meant to harm us. In fact, I might get something useful if this deal pulled through,"

"A deal?"

Nodding my head once, I never give her any explanation afterward since this situation wasn't the least of her concerns.

If Aster wasn't involved in this, I would've done everything myself.

But doing everything alone is very tiresome so having a goffer like Aster is heaven-sent gift of some sort if such a thing even existed in the first place.

For a while, we waited on our carriage while I took a few glances atop of our carriage to watch the box where Danath is stored.

Once I was sure that it was safely resting there and wasn't stolen whatsoever, I was able to spot Aster at the corner of my eye returning with a few guards on his side.

Those heavy and shining armors clanging all together as a single movement can make a noise, ringing closer and closer still.

I never understood heavy armor.

Being a mage, wearing armor will only hinder my movements greatly instead of helping me in a battle situation.

The only armor I'm wearing is a magical robe that I made myself.

And a hat.

A hat is very important.

A crowd was watching us weirdly before the first thing that came out from Aster's mouth was an apology.

"Forgive me if I took long. There was someone pestering me all of a sudden,"

Aster then pointed his hand at the back.

"Cillian, these are the people from the Holy Church. The one guiding us is Sir Edwards,"

The one leading the knights stepped forward and stood valiantly.

"Good day, Cillian. I assume you were the one who sent us the letter? We'll lead you the way towards Archbishop Petro. Get ready to move,"

Liking the fact that we aren't going to talk in the streets and that they are taking this matter seriously, I gave Sir Edwards a nod.

Edwards just raised his hand slightly before the surrounding knights began to move in a fluid state as they made a road that was only meant for us.

In just a few seconds, a way ahead was made and we proceeded to move the carriage without any hiccups.

The carriage was parked near the camps the Holy Church was using.

Glancing at Yana for a brief moment, I demanded.

"You stay here and wait for us. We'll be back in a moment,"

Yana didn't seem to be in disagreement when her face told everything about wanting to come with us.

But for her safety, I didn't want to risk anything since this is my business.

Aster went up to carry the box out from the carriage and brought it down to the ground to make the knights carry it.

Edwards didn't appear hurt when his knights were being used that way hence they started to carry it.

But when they got ahold of the item, their actions became stiff when they realized how heavy it was for them to bring it.

They looked at Aster weirdly who didn't even break a sweat and waited for Edwards to give a signal to move.

"Lead us, Sir Edwards,"

Edwards strangely gave me a look before nodding once as we began to take a few minutes walk.

It didn't take long before Edwards led us to the biggest tent in the Holy Church's camp and entered inside it, only to see a few priests wearing their robes.

Their arrogance can be able to spot almost immediately but it goes even further when they see two kids, me and Aster, entering the tent.

Chatter—!

In the middle of the group of arrogant priests, one man stood out the most due to the different uniforms he was wearing.

It was more grandeur and golden with an archbishop hat atop his head that screams authority and power.

He also excludes calm ambiance, unlike those priests.

"You must be Cillian."

Aster bowed his head down to show respect since it was customary.

But I didn't do crap.

If I wish to proceed with this deal, this Archbishop should know that we're equals.

After that, I might show some respect.

Instead, I signaled the knights to bring down the item we were going to present and said with a cold smile.

"Hello, I'm Cillian Wellington. Today, we're going to sell you an item that we made from a Demon's true core and also give you a piece of news regarding them,"

One of the priests suddenly erupted when the word 'demon' was heard from my mouth.

"Blasphemous! How dare you speak the word 'demon' in front of the Archbishop?!"

Looking at the priest with a deranged face, I uttered coldly.

"Hey, shut the fuck up,"

Then I returned my attention to the Archbishop who hadn't introduced himself and continued getting his attention.

"This item is pretty dangerous since you could say the demon is inside the very thing where we stored it. We found a way to keep it contained though which is the method of putting up a three-meter wall of cold surroundings which explains the box,"

The Archbishop glanced at the box and raised a question.

"The item is inside the box? I thought it was the box,"

I nodded.

"Correct. The very item itself is a star pendant. You could do whatever you want with it as long as it is surrounded by cold surroundings, three meters long. You could even interrogate the demon if you are capable of manifesting a voice that connects to the star pendant. I don't care what you will do with it,"

Yes, I don't care.

After all, the objective here is to involve the Holy Church and get many benefits for allying with them and providing information.

They could do all the heavy lifting for themselves.

Finally, the question I've been waiting for came from the very man, the mysterious Archbishop himself.

"Why would you want to sell it?"

As if it was finally to get these churches wrapped into the existences of the demons, I looked at the Archbishop with conviction and declared proudly.

"I've heard from the very demon itself that their kind will soon arrive in this world, bringing their wrath with them. Offering you a bit of assistance is only natural for us, the people living here.

I paused.

"Who would want to see this world fall, after all? Do you?"
