A Kitten and A CEO...
Lying on my bed after dinner,, I turned toward the window to take in the breathtaking view of New York City....
The city's skyline twinkled like a sea of stars, but something unexpected caught my attention..
A tiny,, white kitten sat curled up at the corner of my window,, its fur like fresh snow. The window was closed,, but even from a distance, I could see it trembling slightly... My heart clenched as I took a step closer...
The kitten was sleeping,, its little body rising and falling with each breath...
But then—my breath caught in my throat. A smear of red stained its left leg.
Blood.
Panic surged through me.. If I tried to grab the kitten myself,, it might get scared and run away—or worse, hurt itself more.
I needed help..
Without wasting another second,, I rushed out of my room, searching for someone who could assist me. And that's when I saw him...
Adrian..
He stood there in the dim hallway, his hands in his pockets,, his sharp gaze locked onto me. His expression was unreadable,, almost like he was studying me...
For a moment, I forgot why I had even come out of my room.. The way he looked at me—calm, confident, and piercing—it made my heart skip a beat...
"Adrian," I finally managed to say..
He remained silent,, still staring.
"Can you help me?" I asked again,, feeling slightly nervous under his intense gaze.
Still no response...
Was he even listening?? I let out a frustrated sigh and continued. "There's a kitten on my window, and I think she's injured.. I don't want to scare her off, so I need your help catching her."
Adrian tilted his head slightly, as if analyzing my words, and then after what felt like an eternity,, he spoke...
"Okay. I'm coming."
His deep voice sent a strange warmth through me.. Without another word, he started walking toward my room.
I quickly moved ahead and led him inside. As we reached the window,, I instinctively grabbed his hand...
"Be careful. She's sleeping," I whispered..
The moment I realized what I had done,, my face burned with embarrassment...
I let go of his hand, but as I did, I noticed something in his eyes—something unreadable,, something that made my stomach flip...
For a second, he just looked at me, as if questioning why I had let go...
Shaking off the moment,, he turned back to the window and said,, "Give me a towel."
I blinked at him in confusion...
"A towel," he repeated. "It'll help me hold her without scaring her."
"Oh! Right, just a second!" I hurried to grab a towel from my bag and handed it to him..
Adrian took it,, wrapped it around his hands like gloves, and then,, with precise movements, carefully opened the window. The kitten stirred but didn't wake...
Gently, he scooped her up, cradling her in his hands as if she were the most delicate thing in the world...
The moment she was in his grasp,, her little eyes fluttered open, and she let out a soft meow, squirming slightly...
Adrian's hold was firm yet tender...
"Here," he said, placing the kitten in my hands,. "We should take her to a vet."
I hesitated before asking,, "How do you know she's a girl?"
He smirked. "I have a lot of cats at home. I can tell."
I smiled. "That's unexpected."
As we walked toward the elevator,, I cradled the kitten closer, feeling a strange warmth in my chest...
The tiny creature looked up at me with sleepy eyes, then let out another small meow..
I giggled. "She loves sleeping, Just like me."
Adrian chuckled,, his deep laugh making my heart race.. "Then I guess she's found the perfect owner."
The elevator doors opened,, and as we stepped in, I felt Adrian move closer to me.
"Wait," he said, stopping me...
"What?"
"You're holding her wrong."
Before I could respond,, he reached from behind me, his strong arms guiding mine as he adjusted the way I held the kitten....
His breath was warm against my shoulder, and for a moment, I forgot how to breathe...
His hands lingered over mine,, steady and gentle...
I could feel the heat rising to my cheeks.
The doors opened,, breaking the moment, and Adrian stepped back...
Without another word, he led me to his car, opening the passenger door for me...
I quickly got in, shutting the door before he could even secure my seatbelt..
He smirked. "In a hurry to avoid me?"
Before I could answer,, he leaned in,, reaching across me to pull the seatbelt over...
He paused midway, his face just inches from mine...
I froze...
His deep gaze locked onto mine,, making my heart hammer in my chest...
Then, suddenly—
Meow..
The kitten let out a tiny growl...
Adrian pulled back, looking at her with amusement....
"Alright, alright. I'm not touching her," he teased.
I laughed. "She's protective."
He started the car, dialing a number... "Hey, Doc. I'm bringing in an injured kitten.. Can you stay open?"
The vet agreed, and as Adrian hung up,, I stroked the kitten's fur.
"I think I'll adopt her," I said softly.
Adrian glanced at me.. "You should. She just found herself a caring mom."
I blushed. "Mom?"
He chuckled. "Of course. That's what you are now."
I looked down at the kitten, smiling...
As we reached the vet clinic,, Adrian guided me inside... The clinic was spacious, filled with various pets waiting for care..
The vet, an older man,, took the kitten from me and examined her. "She's fine ,Just a minor injury—probably fell from somewhere. Give her this medicine after she eats."
Then he looked at Adrian with a knowing smirk.. "You never bring girls here."
Adrian turned to me and smiled.. "She's different."
I swallowed hard, my heart racing...
We picked up the medicine and food before heading back.. As Adrian drove, I finally turned to him...
"Can I ask you something personal?"
"Go ahead," he said, glancing at me..
"What were you doing in my office basement earlier?"
He smirked. "Visiting my cousin."
"You have your own company.. Why not make her work there?"
"She wants to build something on her own."
I nodded. "I respect that." Then, after a pause,
I asked, "Are you… dating anyone?"
The question hung in the air...
Adrian glanced at me,, then back at the road. After a few seconds,
he replied, "No. Are you asking because you're interested?"
My breath caught...
Blushing,, I quickly looked away. "No! Just curious."
He chuckled. "Well, you're quite interesting, Rimi." : )
I hid my face,, feeling warmth spread through me...
As we drove back to the hotel,, I cradled my kitten,, completely unaware that this little creature had just started something
I never expected—something much more than a rescue mission....
Maybe… just maybe, she wasn't the only one who needed saving....
God save.....
