Chapter 30: Identity

Inside the alleyway, the light was dim.

The only place bright enough was the skull oil lamp by the entrance of the Tatamu [Night Color] Bar.

Half of the woman's body was hidden in the shadows, but whether it was her posture or her tone of voice, she exuded a strong aura that pressed others.

Forced by the woman's aura, Wolf Rat's lips moved, but he couldn't say anything, even bowing his head slightly under the pressure of her gaze.

"It's just a pirate. With your current situation, even if you kill him, it's no big deal."

The woman looked in the direction that Alex had slipped away, her meaning incomparably clear.

Namely, you were shot at and ended up having to lick your face to apologize, and after the other party judged the situation to be bad and thus escaped, you didn't even have the courage to chase after him.

Wolf Rat subconsciously glanced at Tatamu.

He had explained the cause to Tatamu about ten seconds ago.

But now, when he was facing the woman in front of him, who was technically considered his superior, he had to explain it in another way.

"That guy just now, he's from the weapon store."

"What?"

The woman was startled, and her figure suddenly flashed. She subconsciously used the [Shave] from the Six Styles and chased after the direction that Alex had slipped away.

In the next second, she appeared a few dozen meters away but didn't use the [Shave] for the second time, instead looking ahead in silence.

Wolf Rat silently looked at the woman's slightly disoriented back and really wanted to say, You're chasing after him, why aren't you chasing after him?

But he still wanted to live for a few more years.

So naturally, such words could only be kept in his heart.

The woman was silent in place for a few seconds before she turned around and walked towards Wolf Rat.

Arriving in front of Wolf Rat, the woman inclined her head to look at Tatamu, who was standing in front of the bar.

From the time she showed her head until now, this was the first time she had set her eyes on Tatamu.

Even if Tatamu had revealed her intention to attack earlier, she had simply ignored it.

In a way, it was the same as her aura, having an extremely high level of confidence in her own strength.

"Don't kill him."

Wolf Rat said in a deep voice, "This has nothing to do with him, and I can guarantee that he won't do anything bad."

The woman didn't say anything, but her thumb slightly pushed away the hilt of the knife.

Seeing this, Wolf Rat's face went cold, and he crossed directly in front of Tatamu, looking at the woman. "Trust me."

"I believe you, but not him."

The woman put her thumb against the hilt of the blade and continued to push upward.

"Oh, well, then I'll just have to leave my stall."

"..."

Seeing Wolf Rat's attitude, the woman, puzzled, could only loosen the hilt of the knife and compromise for the first time.

Because Wolf Rat's work held great weight to them.

If Wolf Rat gave up his job, then it might not be possible to find a second suitable candidate for a long time down the line.

Seeing the woman compromise, Wolf Rat breathed a sigh of relief and looked back at Tatamu, saying, "You go in first."

Tatamu frowned but was unwilling to move.

Wolf Rat's eyes grew serious.

Seeing this, Tatamu vaguely glanced at the woman who had brought him great pressure and silently turned around and walked into the bar.

The door of the bar was closed.

Only then did Wolf Rat withdraw his gaze and turn to the woman.

"A few days ago, I took a commission from the hands of pirates. The job content is to find out the murderer of their companions for them. Unfortunately... that murderer came from the weapon store."

"You were exposed?"

The woman thought of something, and her face changed.

Wolf Rat shook his head and said, "In the past few days, I've been unsure if I've been noticed by that old man, but just now, I'm leaning more towards the fact that the old man didn't notice me."

"Or rather, it's that he didn't even have me in his sights, or else I might have turned into a corpse in the gutter a long time ago."

"But even if he had sought me out, it would have been impossible for him to detect my true identity, so you don't even have to worry about this kind of problem. At most, you'll just be looking for a replacement again."

The woman's eyes softened at that, and she nodded.

Wolf Rat continued, "In these few years, I have not dared to get too close to that weapon store, nor did I dare to observe that old man head-on. My intuition tells me that even just a purposeful glance at that old man could evolve into an opportunity to get infinitely closer to death."

"Well, caution is good."

The woman's eyelids lowered, her burgundy eyes filled with coldness.

"After all, the other party is a 'Trick Gun,' and his powers of observation and acumen are top-notch."

"In that case, you shouldn't have come to me of your own accord."

"Nothing will happen tonight."

The woman said with intent.

Wolf Rat sighed softly, understanding the woman's credentials for being so confident.

It was nothing more than the convenience brought about by this spectacle.

He looked in the direction of the auction and asked, "How many of you have come?"

The woman raised three fingers.

"Three? ... Forget it, it shouldn't affect me."

Wolf Rat turned to the direction where Alex had left and returned to the topic.

"That guy just now is the murderer that the pirates are looking for. Seeing him here is also a kind of karmic coincidence for me to find the only point of entry."

The woman sniffed and suddenly thought of the dog-licking look the Wolf Rat had just given her and was a bit dazed.

"You want to use him?"

"Right."

"But he's just a newcomer, not the first and won't be the last."

"This time is different. That old man went out for him..."

"Huh?"

The woman's eyes changed.

Striking out meant increasing the chances of exposure.

But even so, Trick Gun still made a move.

Side by side, it showed that Trick Gun valued that person just now.

This might be...

Thinking about this, the woman's eyes glowed with light, which in turn brightened that good-looking face.

Wolf Rat was momentarily lost in thought.

The woman's strength for a long time made him always inadvertently forget that the other party was a very attractive woman.

Shaking his head violently, Wolf Rat chased away the barbed reverie.

Some women were beautiful, but they were not to be touched or thought of.

"Mouse, I don't care what plan you have. As long as you can succeed, then I can guarantee that the effort you've put in over the past few years will never go to waste!"

"There's one thing I've never been able to figure out. Since you guys are so intent on trying to settle that old man, then there must be a motive that's worth going to great lengths for. But why don't you guys just directly transfer enough combat power from the headquarters to crush him, instead of beating around the bush?"

"You think we don't want to? Whether it's..."

The woman's mind conjured up the looks of those two elders, stopping her words in time.

Wolf Rat was even more puzzled and said, "Then why exactly?"

"Because..."

The woman gritted her teeth and said, "He runs fast."

"..."

Wolf Rat was dumbfounded.

The woman took a deep breath.

"Anyway, trying to get a bird to voluntarily walk into a birdcage is not an easy task after all."

Alex ran fast.

It took several whole blocks before he managed to stop.

"That person shouldn't be sick, right?"

Shaking his head slightly, Alex took out three guns and loaded them one by one.

Before, he didn't have the kind of god-awful filling speed of Jesus Burgess.

Every time Alex filled the ammunition, he always had to mentally spit out the inconvenience of the flintlock rifles.

"The harvest is okay. I might be able to find a few more suitable prey before zero hour. At this point, the auction shouldn't be over yet, right?"

After filling up his ammunition, Alex looked in the direction of the auction.

Just the moment he looked over—

Several explosions in succession came from that direction.

Alex froze.
