City of Mesarith
Heavy clouds hung above like an ominous curtain of death, shrouding the city under darkness.
Legend has it that before the arrival of Absolute Order, the city of Mesarith was a small mining city with numerous iron mines. Now, with the arrival of Absolute Order and miraculous mana, these small iron mines had transformed into sources of precious Frost Iron, which was in high demand all over the world as weapons forged from this metal were highly effective against Abyssal creatures, attracting large numbers of people from across the globe.
The precious metals resulted in too many fights and conflicts, which led to the rise of three major powers that ruled the city with their iron might.
One of these prominent families was the Skylar family, with a fearsome reputation.
And today, the Lord of one of these families announced something which shook the city and all its inhabitants to the core. Not just Mesarith city, even the nearby cities were shaken by the news.
Lord of the Skylar family, Theodore Skylar, had declared that anyone who could bring him a petal of Seven Star flowers in three days would be rewarded with a class crystal.
Anyone with a sane mind would know how precious a class crystal was. The chance of encountering one in the Abyssal battlefield was one in ten thousand, and it wasn't even guaranteed.
For people at the bottom rung of society, a class crystal represented the ability to change their life.
They could ascend to heaven with a single step, like a carp leaping through the dragon gate.
Most people in the world were classless individuals struggling every day in the battlefield, barely able to rise through the ranks.
The benefits of having a class were obvious, as having a class meant having access to unique and powerful skills which could be leveled up.
And this was important because only the skills given by a class could be leveled up, unlike self-taught skills.
There was only one way to improve self-taught skills: through arduous years of practice and heaven-defying comprehension.
So it became apparent why the city was filled with such excitement.
Unfazed by the gloomy weather, people one after another rushed towards the mansion of the Skylar family.
A long queue of people was already lined up patiently, waiting for their turn to be called inside.
The guards of the Skylar family, dressed in armor, glared at the lined-up people, not allowing them to forget the dignity of a noble family or cause a ruckus.
"Do these people really think, they can get the class crystal..tch," A burly guard dressed in armour spoke in disdain.
His companions also laughed out loud with evident jealously in his voice, it was obvious why he was jealous of these people.
The people lined up piad no heed to these guards biting remark even some hot blooded youngster only gritted their teeth and didn't say anything.
While the rest of the people were looking at the almost lifelike statue of two roaring dragons soaring towards the sky, made from Frost Iron, and immediately sigh in awe.
The grandeur and majesty of a noble family was really something else, to waste precious metals in such an opulent manner.
It was no wonder the precious Frost Iron was almost short on supply.
Robert, standing on one of the distant towers, watched this scene with a dark expression on his face.
Today was the third day, and not a single petal of the Seven Stars had been found, as if they had completely vanished from the world.
"How could such an important treasure suddenly disappear? According to the Divine Doctor, for the complete recovery of my nephew, a petal of Seven Star flowers is a must," Robert Skylar thought while frowning.
He continued to think, "There is definitely something wrong with the city. How can such a treasure suddenly disappear?"
Suddenly his eyes turned cold. "Is someone purposefully targeting my Skylar family?"
While he was busy thinking, suddenly there was a loud commotion in the queue. Robert focused to understand what was going on.
"What? Seven Star flowers had finally been found?"
After understanding the reason behind the commotion, Robert let out a breath of relief and immediately jumped toward the people to maintain order.
...
Inside the room, the Divine Doctor fiddled with numerous strange glass tubes with a purple flame burning beneath one.
The entire room was filled with a strong smell of herbs and a strange calming scent that soothed the nerves of everyone present.
Even Athena, whose appearance was a bit disheveled, calmly looked at the pulsing liquid with clear relief in her eyes.
Theodore also looked at this scene and said, "I told you, didn't I? There was no need to worry about anything with the Divine Doctor present."
Athena shifted her gaze away from the bubbling test tube and looked at her husband with worry in her eyes and slowly said, "How can I not worry? After all, it is my own blood, not some random stranger that I found on the street."
"This...?"
After hearing Athena's words, Theodore immediately fell silent, no longer speaking.
Before the situation could turn even more awkward for the Skylar family head, the test tube in front glowed faintly and with a loud hum, the flame disappeared.
"The Elixir is successfully refined!"
The eyes of Theodore and Athena focused on the Divine Doctor. The Divine Doctor ignored the couple's interrogative gaze and slowly walked towards the sleeping Dawn while carrying a purplish marble in his hands.
Dawn was sleeping soundly with his eyes closed, completely oblivious to the outside situation. His porcelain doll-like skin glowed under the gentle sun rays that made their way into the room through the grand windows.
The Divine Doctor stopped when he was right beside Dawn. With eyes filled with solemnity, he gently bent down and placed the purple marble in the infant's mouth.
After doing that, he immediately moved back a couple of steps and gazed at Dawn's figure intently.
Under the eyes of the couple and the Divine Doctor, the purple marble turned into a stream of liquid and slowly made its way down Dawn's throat.
Immediately Dawn's eyelids started to twitch.
"My son is moving!" Athena cried out and moved closer to Dawn's bed, followed by Theodore.
The Divine Doctor moved to the side to give way to the couple. In the next moment, he coughed and said, "Young master's soul strength is weaker than average, so in order to ensure that he can grow up properly, he needs at least one soul-strengthening elixir daily."
The doctor looked solemn when he said those words. Internally, however, he was confused. The young master clearly is marked by the Abyss, so how can his soul strength be so weak?
"Weak soul strength... hmm," Theodore also had a frown on his face. Weaker soul strength meant that the talent of his youngest child was not good.
