Companionship

Sebastian

Her confession of being scared caused anger to rise in me. I held her tightly as she sobbed into my chest, not wanting to let her go. It felt like the only safe place for my Lilith was in my arms. Azazel grumbled in frustration as he felt the same need to protect her.

"Lilith..." I felt my breath catch in my chest as my anger wavered. ""I will always come for you. No matter what, no matter where. You are MINE, and I will burn... anyone and everyone who has hurt you." I growled out. She looked up at me pleadingly, causing me lean my forehead on hers. She brought out new feelings I'd never felt before. It was honestly scary for me.

I've lived carelessly these past seven years, letting Azazel's urges take over. I honestly was just chasing something to feel again. Ever since he took over, I've felt nothing but darkness. But when Lilith walked into our lives, it was like someone pulled the blindfold off. She's taming my demon, allowing me to experience life again, allowing him to see the world in a new light.

I cradled her, rocking her as I felt her doze off. I wasn't leaving her side. Today, tomorrow or ever. I will do everything to keep her next to me. I felt like a possessive child holding her. I laid back, letting her rest on my chest as she softly nuzzled into me. I ran my fingers through her wonderful red hair with one hand as I traced her body with the other.

A knock came at my door, causing me to let out an angry grumble. I wish I didn't have this godforsaken title of prince. I pulled the covers around us, covering us.

"Come in." I sharply said. The door opened slowly as Troy peeked around the edge. He quickly darted his gaze to the floor when he saw me covered up, cradling Lilith.

"I'm... sorry to interrupt, I just wanted to inform you that Cranston put up runes for a barrier, and the guards are positioned like asked. We are currently moving our items from the barracks to the available rooms in the palace." He bowed, finishing his sentence.

"Troy..." I glared at him. He stiffened up.

"Thank you, please keep everyone away from me for the rest of the day. Lilith and I need rest. Last night took a lot out of us. I can trust you to make the decisions for the day?" I raised a brow at him. He smiled and nodded.

"Yes sir!" He stood up straight and saluted me. He turned and closed the door softly.

Troy reminded me a lot of myself before my accident. Always trying to do the right thing. I scoffed slightly as I leaned my head back against the headboard. The world is cruel. I hope he keeps that outlook on life.

I couldn't sleep; I stayed up looking out the window as Lilith slept. Azazel kept humming happily as I glided my fingers over the bite mark on her neck. I glanced down at it as she winced when I touched it.

"Don't worry, it's not hurting her." Azazel hummed.

"What... did you exactly do?" I whispered my fingers ran softly against her shoulder.

"I marked her. It means she's ours. The stronger our bond, the stronger we're connected." He smirked as I furrowed my brow curiously.

"New things will start to arise, Sebastian... good things, and then you'll know what I mean." He chuckled.

I smiled down on my little lamb as Azazel sang huskily. I haven't seen him this happy ever, and to be frank, it was scarier than when I first met him. I knew this day would come; it was one of the conditions of him occupying my body. He was allowed to pick and choose anyone he wished to mark and make his bride. I never questioned why he wanted one. I always thought demons didn't want companionship.

"No, we crave companionship. I lost my first mate in the great demon war..." He answered my thought. "I honestly was going to destroy humans, but then I decided to enter you and see the world through your eyes. Then this divine being walked into our lives..." He purred. "She reminds me a lot of my old mate."

Lilith groggily awoke, slightly pushing herself off of me. Her eyes were half open, her mouth slightly parted as she gazed at my chest. Confusion crossed her face at first, then her eyes widened as she snapped her eyes up to mine. I grinned at her.

"Hello..." I huskily said as she turned the color of her hair. She shook her head slightly, biting her lip. She smiled back.

"Hello." She responded, her voice sweet. She wiggled her way out from between my legs, moving to the side of me. I wrapped my arms around her as she giggled.

"Um... Sebastian..." She whispered out, smiling. Oh, how she says my name...

"Yes... Lilith." I placed a kiss on top of her head as I could feel her radiating smile on my arm.

"I think I need to eat. I'm starving." She pulled her brows together as she looked up at me.

Thank. Fucking. God. I smiled as I pulled her closer to me.

"Let's get you something to eat then, little lamb." I cooed to her as she nodded.

She threw back on the clothing I lent her as I tied the tie on my pants. I cocked my head as I watched the shirt slide down over her. She made eye contact with me, grinned, then shook her finger at me.

"I know what you're thinking, and no. I need to eat." She giggled. I laughed along with her as I strode up to her, placing my thumb on her chin.

"Of course, little lamb..." I leaned in, planting a kiss on her forehead. She reached up, pulling my face towards hers, planting a soft kiss on my mouth.

"You're playing a dangerous game, Lilith..." I whispered as she released me.

"And?" She taunted as she pushed herself off the bed. She raised a brow at me as she swayed her hips. My jaw dropped as she laughed.

"Come on, let's go." She extended her hand towards me. My heart fluttered as I reached out, grabbing her. She pulled me towards the door. I could hear her hum a small tune as we headed down the hall.

Once we hit the foyer, the place was busy. Troy was running back and forth guiding guards to rooms as maids and butlers helped the new guests find their footing. We strode to the kitchen, her soft delicate fingers wrapped between mine.

The cook was standing there, mixing a pot. He turned to us.

"Hey! Sebastian! Long time. Are you hungry? I got stew for lunch! It's the only thing I could think of to feed so many people on short notice," he chuckled.

"Sounds good to me George." I tilted my head in approval. He dropped the ladle, turning to me.

"Who did you kill to put you in this mood, huh? Calling me by my name? Oui!" He flung his arms up. Lilith giggled, causing him to look over at her. His brows shot up as he looked at me with an aha! Look. He picked up the ladle and went back to stirring.

"Sit, sit, it'll be done soon, and I could use the company." He gestured for us to sit at the counter. I walked over, pulling the chair out for Lilith. She thanked me as she took a seat. I sat next to her, watching her as she fiddled with her fingers. She glanced at me, then leaned her head on my shoulder. I pressed the side of mine into hers as George gawked at us.

I shot him a glance, causing him to snap his mouth shut. He poured some stew into bowls for us. He slid them to us as he turned back to his pot.
