Kain
I wanted to mark Luna. Abel had to do it though, and marking someone who isn't a shifter can be tricky. I can have him partially take over, making my height bigger and I'll have claws. Would that scare her, though? She's not like any other guardian I've met. The poor gal is terrified of everything and hardly ever has her guardian come out.
I wrapped my arm around Luna and pulled her into me. Gods, she's so small. Everything about her was the complete opposite of Lilith. I rubbed my face into the back of her hair. Her smell caused me to whimper. Able wanted a mate, and this is the strongest I felt towards anyone.
My father had choices set for me, yes, but I declined. The old ways were terrible, and I refused to follow their rules. That's why I took up a cabin just outside the pack. The whole alpha, beta and omega thing was ridiculous. I refused to conform and mind link with them. I refused to be told what to do when we all should be free to choose. I understand the need for leadership and guidance, but why such harsh punishments for disobedience?
If I ever took over, there'd be no system like that and that scared my father. The pack hierarchy was what he lived and breathed.
I held Luna in my arms, my dominant shell dissolving while I felt her soft skin against mine. I felt a pull to her, an immediate one, when she and her horrid mother set foot right outside the entrance of our village where my cabin resided.
I couldn't keep my eyes off her as my father announced I was to be wed to Lilith. I didn't protest because he said I'd be escorted to Astion by Luna. Once I got there, I'd figure everything else out. What had me and my wolf pissed was how her mother kept trying to throw her at everyone. Luna looked uncomfortable but smiled and bared with it. The last straw was her mother placing food on her plate, dictating how much she could eat.
The two weeks it took us to arrive in Astion was all I needed to know. She was my mate. I didn't know how I'd get her, but I knew I would. Upon being told Lilith's signature was forged, Abel was giddy with excitement. And seeing how Sebastian and Lilith fought for their bond made me want to do the same. It was one of the reasons why I envied him so much.
Able wanted to butt heads with Sebastian. We could immediately tell a demon resided in him. Once it revealed himself, God that sent us in an overdrive for power. We wanted to fight him just to see if we could.
"Kain..." Luna whispered, interrupting my thoughts.
"Yes, mea amor?" I brushed her hair away from her nape, leaning down to kiss her. She rolled over, facing me.
"Thank you, even if this is our last time together..." She tilted her head, kissing my chin. "It will forever be etched into my memory."
"Oh... Mea amor..." I rumbled as I took her chin into my hand. "This is not the last time we'll be together."
She frowned. I knew what was going to be said next, so before she could say I cupped her mouth shut. She yelped in surprise as I locked my eyes with her powder blue ones.
"I will hunt ya down, bind ya up and throw ya over my shoulder if I have to." I moved my mouth next to her ear. "Mark my words, mea amor, you will be mine, even if I have to rip ya away from another man." I nipped her ear as her body erupted into goosebumps.
She slowly wiggled out of my grasp, causing Abel to whimper as I felt a void fill where she was. She got dressed and said she'd see me at dinner tonight. As she closed the door, I lay there staring at the ceiling.
"We should just mark her and get it over with." Able grumbled as I rolled over, placing my head where she was at. I inhaled as I ran my fingers over where she laid.
"She wouldn't want that, and we need to keep our Luna happy." I rubbed my face on the blankets as Abel hummed. We lay there for a while, thinking about everything that transpired over the past couple of months. It was pretty hectic.
We didn't go back home because there was no point. We only agreed to come because of Luna, and she decided to stay as well. I don't know her reasonings, but where she goes, I'll go. I've made my mind up on that. I'll gladly fight her hag of mother if she disagrees.
I rolled out of bed and headed to the bathroom. I needed to bathe after the fighting and bedding I've done. Once done, I threw on a white button up and a pair of leather pants, adjusting the waistband and tucking my shirt into it. I heard the clock chiming in the foyer telling me it was dinnertime.
I huffed, puffing out my chest, stretching the fabric as it was irritating me. I ran my hands through my dark brown hair as I exited my room. Just outside my door, I paused, tilting my nose in the air. I could smell everyone already in the dining hall. I turned, making my way to them.
As I entered, I was met with arguing from Lilith and Luna. Sebastian was rubbing his temples, frustration plastered across his face. I could still smell that Lilith was in heat, but I guess those horn dogs gotta eat, too.
I went and took my place next to Luna. Who was sittin a few chairs down from Lilith.
"I'm just saying! You can't keep commenting on what I eat when you barely eat yourself!" Lilith turned her head away from Luna. Luna scoffed, crossing her arms in anger.
"I'm sorry! It's just... I don't want mother to say anything." She mumbled as her pose relaxed. Lilith turned, raising a brow at her as I picked up some food and took a bite.
"Mothers on her way here... she apparently sided with Prince Edwin." She looked down at her plate, poking her fork at her potatoes.
"SHE WHAT!?" Lilith launched herself at Luna. I stood up, snatching her before she grabbed her. Lilith looked at me wildly as Sebastian grabbed her, pulling her away from me. He got in my face as he grabbed my jaw forcibly.
"YOU DON'T TOUCH HER!" He roared. I broke from his grip, grabbing his wrist and shoving him away from me.
"You don't..." I rumbled; my eyes glowing. "Touch her." I tilted my head towards Luna, who was cowering behind me. Sebastian snarled and turned back to Lilith. He grabbed her by her shoulders, guiding her seething self back to her seat.
"I'm sorry... I can't. I can't control myself today." She placed her elbows on the table, leaning her head on her hands. Grabbing my plate, I moved my seat, so I'd be sitting between the two.
"That makes two of ya..." I glared at the two as Sebastian took a sip from his cup, shrugging.
"Tensions are high. We can't be going at each other like this." I turned towards Luna, placing my hand on her thigh to comfort her.
"Kain's right, especially since moms on the way here." She rubbed the back of her hand against her eye.
"She's going to..." Lilith leaned back in her seat, letting out a sigh. "Force us to go back home. She's going to want us and the other ten guardians to fight alongside Edwin."
A loud crack filled the hall as Sebastian smashed his hands on the table, splitting the wood in two.
"Fuck!" He spat as he turned to leave. Lilith watched him leave worriedly. She turned to us.
"I... I don't know what's going. I'm sorry." She stood up, grasping her neck as she bowed, excusing herself.
"I think Sebastian is suppressing his being too much." I shrugged as she exited the hall. Luna placed her forehead on my shoulder, her scent became overwhelming as I turned to her.
"Whatever is going on... it's affecting everyone." She huffed out as she leaned back in her seat, her face flustered as her chest hauled up and down. I grinned at her.
"So much for the last time, huh?"
