A Friend

Kraven rose to his feet, crossing his arms, and leaned against the tree.

"Don't think I'll save you the second time. I'm more inclined to watch you struggle," he mused, enjoying the sight before him.

It baffled him that she'd go to such lengths to save a ravenite—who had treated her as a cheater.

Isadora ignored him as she tried to climb, but her hands would give out each time because of the quivers.

"You're wasting your time, love."

"Go away!" she yelled.

"I saved your life, love, the least you can do is thank me first."

She turned back to him and glared daggers. "I'd rather be hung back on that tree with her!"

A dangerous glint shone in his eyes. "Wonderful, let's make that happen then… I was enjoying the sight after all." He pushed off the tree and strode toward her.

Isadora panicked as she took steps backward, but her back met the tree leaving her trapped. She forced her chin up, locking eyes with him.
