Chapter 8

Simon's voice sounded exhausted as he spoke. "Claire is the only woman I've ever truly cared for..."

I switched off the video and let out a heavy breath.

He was no longer a part of my history, and I didn't want him in my future either.

I turned my phone on again and responded to his message. "I apologize for the public spectacle. Simon and I are finished. Our marriage has ended."

After sending the reply, I shut off my phone.

Wendy gave me an encouraging gesture. I grasped her hand with a smile and we strolled towards the glistening sea under the radiant sun.

The diving instructor was incredibly understanding, and his clumsy English had us in fits of laughter.

As darkness fell, we savored a romantic dinner by candlelight on the shore.

Since arriving here, even my persistent headache had lessened.

I opened my diary and crossed out "snorkeling." Then, I moved on to the next activity.

"Deep-sea fishing."
