Julia's Perspective
The mere mention of my name caused Darren's expression to harden, his eyes turning cold. However, he quickly composed himself, not wanting Tamara to glimpse that unpleasant side of him.
He exhaled deeply. "Tammy, why are you bringing her into this? You're aware of what she did to my mother, how she..." He trailed off, frowning. "It's getting late, you should rest."
"But I can't sleep, Darren," she said with a pout.
"Don't fret," he replied gently. "I'll stay by your side until you drift off, then I'll retire to my room."
I watched with a heavy heart as Darren sat beside Tamara's bed, murmuring soothing words. His eyes held a tenderness I had never witnessed during our time together. Tears welled up as I realized Darren had never truly loved me.
Oh, my dear Darren, if only you knew... if only you understood that the woman you were so concerned about wasn't as helpless as you believed.
