Chapter 17

Julia's Perspective

When Darren's mom became sick, I suggested she move in with us so I could care for her properly. I understood how much his mother meant to Darren, especially after losing his dad to a random attack. That's why I decided to have her live with us. I recall how pleased Darren was about this arrangement.

His mother's condition was uncommon but treatable with a specific medication. I took on the responsibility of giving her the medicine myself. Initially, it seemed effective, but after four weeks, I began to notice subtle, concerning changes. I grew worried but thought it might be a reaction to the treatment.

Sadly, her condition deteriorated, and she eventually passed away. The doctor who examined her stated that she died from repeated overmedication. Even though I maintained that I had given Darren's mother the correct dosage, the doctor insisted that I had been administering too much, which led to her death.
