Olivia's statement lingered in the room, a veiled threat. "I'm aware of your attachment to Jacob. I'll allow you to be his godparent, but remember, I'm his birth mother. I want Jacob's shares transferred to me, to manage for him. Only then will I agree to your proposal."
I inwardly scoffed at their blatant attempt at manipulation. It was almost comical.
I kept my composure and nodded. "If that's the case, the shares are irrelevant to me. However, I need to ask one thing. Did you truly just discover this information?"
The trio nodded in unison, each playing their part in this charade.
