Chapter 65 - Enough

Karl sat in the dim light of his apartment, his phone screen casting a pale glow over his face. His mind was tangled, swirling with a mix of frustration, hatred, and something else—something darker.

Eric Langley.

The bastard had gotten away with too much for too long. And now, he was threatening Lina's little sister.

Karl exhaled sharply. He had to trap him. Make sure there was no escape. But how? He needed leverage. Needed a place. Somewhere Eric felt safe—somewhere he let his guard down.

But Karl had nothing.

He tapped his fingers against the table, scowling at his own lack of progress. "Damn it. There has to be something."

And then, like a whisper in the dark, a familiar voice purred from his phone.

"My, my~ Karl, getting stuck already?" Chillie Jean's playful tone slithered into his ears. Her avatar flickered onto the screen, her digital form lounging lazily as if she had all the time in the world.
