Directional Change (2)

...

My head hurts; is this Anomaly's Perspective skill too much for me to handle? Because every time I use it, I get a headache.

I leaned against a wall inside a narrow, dark alleyway, tiredly gripping my head as I sweat and grit my teeth due to the pain accumulating inside my brain.

"What the hell did I just do?" I say, surprised as I think more closely on the actions I did earlier.

But, it did say something about rewards earlier, right?

[...Rewards granted.]

"Whoa—oh, nice timing," I say, content with the system notification. Although flinching a bit, I was still clearly not used to the sudden chimes of the system window for now.

Holy, I got so much levels from that. Doing stuff like this gives you that much...?

I took notice of this and released my grip from my head and faced the status window that popped up on my right, looking at it curiously and eyeing up every single detail and change it showed me.

One change in particular had caught my interest.

"The Anomaly Perspective skill leveled up? If this skill was this useful right now, how could it be any more useful than it was before? I would like to find out; maybe it'd be a game-changer," I say, rubbing my jaw as I think about the possibilities of the usefulness of the skill increasing.

I smirked as I looked up at the sky, looking forward to any events to come. I recalled the past events of how I used to get beaten up by slimes every single day and not see any improvement whatsoever, to killing boars in one fell swoop without any struggles.

I must thank that person who encouraged me to not give up. It's because of him I've gotten this far. Who knows? I would've died already if it weren't for that guy...

"When I meet you one day, for sure, I'll thank you," I say, smiling, chuckling with a satisfied tone.

I raised my hands and did an imaginary fist bump towards the sky, chuckling as I put down my hands and walked out, walking on the street.

...

A few minutes later, I decided to head outside the dark alleyway and was pleasantly met again by the sounds of the people's murmurs and the crowd of people on the sidewalks.

As I walked down the street, I spotted numerous vendors and blacksmiths selling magic items, swords, and much more.

The swords definitely looked expensive, but I didn't forget to loot the corpses of the boars earlier. But the question is, where do I sell them?

...

I wondered as I sat on a nearby chair outside a small restaurant. Then, I decided to try and bet on my luck if I managed to find it by chance, standing up and continuing to walk.

I looked and walked around frantically if any place I saw had the possibility of taking monster corpses in exchange for money.

A somewhat conspicuous person had caught my attention, someone who looked fairly strong, and after a few seconds of contemplation, I decided to head in her direction and ask her about it.

I mean, I'm nervous, but I'll never find it if I don't ask for directions.

I tap her shoulders gently, getting her attention first. Then I asked politely.

The person showed out to be a female slightly shorter than myself, with striking, long, midnight blue hair and exquisite blue eyes. She carried a magical bow, so I figured she was strong.

"Excuse me, sorry for bothering you, but if you don't mind, where can I sell monster corpses?" I kindly inquire, waiting for her response.

...

It took her a few seconds to react to my query; then, she looked me up and down before answering.

"Oh, a place where you sell monsters? You mean the adventurer's guild? If so, it's over in that direction." She says, pointing in the opposite direction as I had gone.

My face lit up as I heard about her answer, happily thanked them as I went back to the direction I had went. In a distance where she couldn't see me, I facepalmed in embarrassment as I had realized that I might have gone past it this entire time.

Meanwhile, the girl had thought about what my identity was and who I was.

"Who is that guy? I haven't seen him around this place. I can feel he's quite strong based on his mana, but I don't know who he is." She says, biting her nail as she thinks.

"If someone was powerful in a place like this, I would've heard about him." She adds, increasing her suspicions about me.

"He doesn't even know where the guild is located; that just makes him all the more suspicious... Although he was weirdly polite."

I'll not mind him for now, I guess. Let's not think about that person; he has nothing to do with me. He asked for directions from me, and that's all.

...

A couple of minutes pass as I finally reach my path to the adventurer's guild. My eyes lit up as I was filled with excitement, calculating how much money I would get by selling the boar corpses I had got while killing numerous boars.

I walked in, greeted by the laughs of the adventurers as they drank beer, the murmurs of the people talking about a random topic, and more.

As I went ahead and walked towards the front desk of the guild, the receptionist asked me.

"I haven't seen you here before; do you have an adventurer's ID?" she asks, looking at me suspiciously.

"Here it is."

I calmly reply as I pull out my ID; I haven't visited the guild recently, so it's still at E-rank...

After that, I pulled out my inventory to place 31 boar corpses on the counter, the receptionist slightly surprised but regaining her composure as she asked a question.

"When did you apply for this ID?" She asks, curious and suspicious as she thinks about the possibility that I might be a fake ranker.

A fake ranker is one that doesn't re-apply their ID to hide the fact that someone is powerful when their ID tells them it's not. They do this to bait lower-ranking adventurers to steal their loot.

"Oh, I never reapplied for my ID; I applied for my ID a year ago," I politely reply.

The receptionist understandingly nods as she sees my politeness and gets out 31 bronze coins from a coin box. Before she handed it out to me, she asked.

"Hm, you should reapply it soon. Maybe you'll increase in rank; E-rank adventurers can only gather 2-3 at most. My guess is maybe D-rank... Anyways, thank you for visiting, and come again!" She says with content, nodding her head happily as she waves her hands while I walk towards the exit, opening the door.

Just when I opened the door, I had accidentally bumped into someone. Someone familiar.

"Oh, sorry," I say, apologizing as I look up, pausing mid-sentence as I realize who I bumped into.

That person turned out to be Katsuro.

[You have used your skill: Anomaly's Perspective (SSS).]

[Act 1, Scene 2 has begun. Can you somehow change the path this time?]

[As Katsuro heads back to the central after instantly decapitating that burglar, he walks inside the guild to sell its corpse and saw his childhood friend, Mika Hatsujin, a woman with striking, long, midnight blue hair and exquisite blue eyes. As he opened the door, he noticed her as he walked inside.]

Are you kidding me? What is this now?
