Pt.1: 4: Couple’s Field Work 1

It has been a week since he was hired for the position, and Vincencio quickly impressed the entire design department, not just by his charming looks or smile but by his diligence at work. He was very organized and clever at handling the overlapping projects that had been piling up recently, making the entire department feel relieved at his exact arrival. It didn't escape the CEO's ears.

"Mr. Monsour, the CEO wants to speak with you." Medina made the design department's praises tone down as soon as she called for Vincencio's attention.

"Oh, about what?" Vincencio curiously wondered even though he was happy to be summoned by his wife.

"The projects you've handled so far." Skylar answered coldly as soon as she past behind Medina. "Hurry up."

"Don't worry, she's pleased. So, come." With a knowing look, Medina smiled and followed her boss.

Being a good and diligent employee, Vincencio obeyed the call and went with Medina. But by the time he opened the door, he was immediately being pulled into a very tight embrace. He chuckled as he returned the favor and inhaled his wife's delicate scent of roses and aftershave. It was so refreshing and relaxing.

"Why did you call for me, boss?" With a chuckle, Vincencio pulled away as he wondered, making Skylar compose herself and be a cold boss again.

"Well, I want to congratulate you for the diligence needed at work. I'm also impressed by how you managed the overlapped projects. They were all starting to stabilize, and I sincerely thanked you for that." With her stern, cold voice, Skylar sincerely thanked Vincencio for his hard work before adding his reward. "Also, here's my direct gratitude."

"Thank you, boss." Confused, Vincencio accepted the envelope and thanked her.

"Check it." With a slight softness in her tone, Skylar commanded Vincencio to check the envelope, and he began smirking since he just received two amusement park tickets.

"Thanks, my wife will be pleased with this gift, boss." Vincencio lovingly smiled as he thanked her.

"Good. You may go." Skylar tried to hide her blush after seeing his smile and waved her hand. "Have fun."

"We will." He grinned as he left, and with joy, he went back to doing his job.

As soon as his presence was gone from Skylar's floor, her door opened and Medina entered with her casual teasing grin, making her shake her head. She knew already what was with Medina's smile.

"Don't even start there, Med." With her usual cold tone, Skylar warned her secretary, who was now acting as her friend.

"What? I'm not saying anything." Medina defensively grinned.

"But you intend to." She sighed as she could already tell while signing some files.

"Well, he made you a softie." Medina continued, making her sigh again.

"I'm not." She coldly rebutted, but Medina was not buying it and just grinned more.

"Maybe when he's not around you, but, Skylar, Joey and I were very happy for you." She shrugged her shoulders but was sincerely happy for her friend, adding a reminder. "Don't ruin this."

"That scares me too, but let's see what fate will offer us," Skylar admitted as she stopped working as soon as Medina dropped it.

"We're here for you." Medina smiled encouragingly at her before adding a serious matter. "And by the way, she stopped meddling with the company's affairs, but he didn't. What do you want us to do?"

"Oh, don't worry; she'll do something about it." Skylar's cold tone turned into grim as she slyly grinned at Medina.

"Oh, you did not." Medina knew that smile, and something deadly dangerous would happen.

"You know me, Medina, when it comes to games. I don't stop to get it done." Skylar grinned devilishly, making her secretary sigh in understanding.

"Just be careful. You know how famous you became." She reminded her boss as she prepared her boss's coffee.

"I know. That's why this marriage and company were added to a piece of my game." She coldly answered as she rested her back on her chair, grimly smirking and cracking her fingers.

"Always the cleverest boss I ever met and worked with. Gladly, I'm not on your wrong side. But remember, to always be careful whenever you do your game." Medina chuckled while shaking her head as she placed the cup on her boss's desk.

"I will, and thanks for worrying about me." Skylar's smirk softens to a genuine smile as she thanks Medina.

"Always, and from what I could see, this marriage isn't a game piece anymore." She pointed genuinely, making Skylar smiled gratefully and nodded. Medina likes that smile before adding a reminder about a slight issue around her skyscraper hotel. "Anyway, don't forget to check your city-view hotel near the border. Joey didn't like the man you had a conference there with once."

"Ah, don't worry. Ever since that incident, I made him say yes, and I had a plan for that man." Skylar's devilish grin showed up again, making Medina grin as well.

"Can I join?" she wondered.

"Oh, you will join me later to witness it." Skylar amusingly chuckled as her eyes held mischief.

***

After a few hours around the company, Skylar strongly walked out of the company with Medina and immediately headed to her SkyLux Hotel & Gallery Restaurant and checked a report that she got from Joey.

"Medina, what's the status around our hotel branch near the border?" With her cold voice, Skylar asked Medina.

"It's still great, but Joey found something alarming, and I agreed. Here's the footage from the weekend's midnight and last night." Medina handed Skylar her work tablet, showing the footage from the hotel's night security cameras before adding, "I found it fishy."

"It is fishy. But, I know who's responsible for this disturbance." Skylar's sinister smirk hadn't left her lips, making Medina guess.

"Are you saying they were the same?" Medina wondered whether to check whether her guess was right or not.

"Indeed." Her boss's smirk deepened, and their car stopped before continuing. "It's endgame."

Like what the cold CEO mentioned before, it was indeed an end game for a man that she once had a meeting with at the same hotel and restaurant in the same booth where her hand got injured due to sucked-up rage. But not this afternoon; she was fully prepared to end an annoying relationship with a potential business partner, Mr. Emmerson Fisher.

"Sorry to keep you waiting." Skyla flatly apologized just to be polite.

"Not at all, I'll get the woman's heart if I wait." The arrogant man smirked as he didn't see what storm would come into his life.

"Silly. I'm already taken." With a fake laugh, Skylar admitted, but Mr. Fisher didn't take it seriously.

"If so, then I'll steal you from him." He smirked confidently, making Skylar's smile turn grim.

"Can you?" With a dark and dangerous tone, she coldly challenged.

"Of course, I'm putting all bets on getting you." Mr. Fisher obliviously smirked, making Skylar's ears twitch.

"Really? If so, don't get your hopes up when you can't win something." Amused, Skylar showed a devilish grin before sipping her tea. "You don't know what's coming."

"Oh, sure I can." He remained oblivious to the sinister danger coming his way and focused on getting Skylar to bed.

"If you're confident enough, then sign this agreement." Seeing his aim didn't falter, Skylar offered something but added a warning. "But are you sure you're giving everything to me?"

"I am. Anything for you, my beautiful lady." His smug grin didn't flatter, and he senselessly signed the paper without reading what would bite him back.

"Great, we have a deal." Skylar faked her smile at him, but deep inside she won more than anticipated.

With the legal documentation signed, Skylar handed the file to Medina, who remained neutral beside her. She finished her tea before ending the meeting, but Mr. Fisher grabbed her wrist.

"What?" Skylar played coolly and wondered what he wanted despite knowing them already before taking her hand back. "Our meeting is ended."

"Shall we book a room?" He stood up as he wondered, making Skylar fake her confused reaction.

"A room? For?" With a puzzled tone, she asked.

"Hook up, what else?" He grinned while being excited, making Skylar shake her head.

"You're unbelievable. Of course, I'll send you out." Skylar stood up and walked ahead of him.

"Let's—what do you think you're doing?" He was about to follow, but Medina signaled the guards around the restaurant and grabbed him, confusing him. "Skylar, what's the meaning of this?"

"Our agreement that you signed." With her usual cold voice, she sternly replied before adding something that hit him hard. "You gave everything to me."

"What? What are you saying?" His voice began to fill with trouble before adding, "We have a business together."

"Business? I haven't signed any business transaction with you." Skylar's voice held venom as danger flickered in her eyes, making him quiver in fear. Then she added, "We just talked about potential business but never made any deal, and surprisingly, you signed a contract without reading my terms."

"WHAT?!" His eyes saw terror as he exclaimed.

"You freely gave me every asset you have. Every last penny." Skylar added in such a soft but dangerous voice, making him snap.

"I'LL GET BACK AT YOU!" He roared despite the fear swirling around his body, and Skylar knew that.

"Of course, you will. Everyone says that." With no intention of wasting time with him, she coldly turned her back and waved his hand to let the guards handle him.

As the man tried to make a scene, Skylar strongly waltzed out of the hotel as if nothing happened. But once she got inside the car, her black phone flickered with a notification.

Received a Text Message:

Unknown Number: Mr. Fisher has been a spy for someone preparing to launch their hotelier business. Here are some of the details I managed to get for you.

Issues: He has been living a double life as a regular contractor and smuggler of illegal firearms known as Somer.

Connections: He has been connected with two commanding officers, a first field lieutenant, and a retired field major, and lastly, his recent connection with a woman married to a Sterling.

Unknown Number: Sorry, I didn't get the first name of the woman he recently contacted. Do you want me to check more? If not, please hold onto your end. That's all I'm asking from you, please.

"Medina, do I have any outfield work in my schedule?" Skylar wondered as she put down her other phone on her lap.

"Yes, boss. You have a conference at the Chaella Beach Hotel for two days and three nights. The meeting is about the expansion of the La Luna de Fragrance, one of the subsidiaries of the La Luna Perfume & Jewelry." Medina checked her boss's schedule and gave her a brief answer.

"Perfect. Prepare my suit, and my real game will happen earlier than expected." She grinned, and Medina felt the dark but cold breeze coming from her boss in the backseat.

"Noted, Boss. But are you bringing Vince on the trip?" Medina nodded but changed the subject as she wondered about her boss's husband.

"Oh, right. I needed his ideas during the meeting," Skylar calmly answered.

"I'll book a suite for the two of you, or…" she trailed off as she glanced at her boss.

"Individual because we're not going alone." Skylar sighed and sternly informed her, making Medina chuckle. She knew that Skylar felt upset about not being able to have alone time with her husband during their business trip.

"True. Okay, I'll book four rooms then." Medina agreed as she smiled over the adorable reaction coming from her intimidating boss.

Skylar was a little annoyed and pouting about their trip after the day tomorrow, but she could not do anything about it since they weren't alone on the business trip.

"I'll make sure to take some time to do both." With determination formed in mind, Skylar hummed with a devilish grin while cracking her fingertips.
