"What's going on? Why are you getting ready? You are already late."
"Mom! I don't want to go to school anymore," Patricia complained to her mother.
Her mother came to nag at her for not getting up that morning but instantly felt worried after seeing her puffy eyes.
"What happened dear?" she asked sitting beside Patricia on the bed.
"They were bullying me," Patricia cried.
Her mother's face instantly darkened.
"Bullying?!? How dare they bully you?"
Patricia cried harder as she told her mother everything that happened.
"That school has the pride of not supporting bullying and they could not even do anything about this?!?"
Patricia continued crying as if what she experienced was not lesser than what Harmony experienced.
"I will go to that school of yours right this instant. How dare they do this to the daughter of the top technological company in the city? Have they forgotten where they got all those computers in their offices? And those computers of yours?"
Her mother was fuming mad after listening to her.
*BLAG*
But as she got up to leave, the door of Patricia's room was slammed open.
"Honey! Listen to what happened to your daughter at that school!"
She did not notice how red his husband was and approached him the moment she saw it was him.
Patricia's father was looking straight at Patricia, ignoring his wife completely.
"Dad, I-"
Patricia started complaining not even wondering why her father was back when he had just left two hours ago.
*SLAP*
"HONEY!!!" Patricia's mother exclaimed.
"What kind of stupidity did you do?" he angrily asked after slapping Patricia.
"Dad… What…" Patricia was speechless.
Her father doted on her a lot and not even once did he raise his hand on her. A sudden slap was completely shocking to her.
"What are you doing, Honey? Your daughter had just experienced bullying in her school!!"
The mother instantly defended Patricia.
"Do you realize who you just went against?"
He grabbed her arm hard.
"Dad, it hurts…" Patricia cried.
"Honey, stop!!! What's going on?!?" his wife tried to stop him from grabbing Patricia's arm.
"Do you know what you have done?!?"
But he was too mad to care less about her getting hurt.
He instead grabbed both her arms and pulled her to stand up.
"Did you know what you have done?!?!"
"Dad, I don't understand what is going on, please it is painful," Patricia replied.
Her father pushed her away, "You idiot. I told you to be careful while staying in that school. All those children have backgrounds all over the country."
"What are you suddenly getting mad about? Your daughter was bullied!! She is the daughter of the technological company supporting that school!!"
"Hah!" he spatted.
"Who cares about being a big technological company in a few cities? We are nothing when compared to those prominent families of every city or most of all those who lead City S!!!" he was so angry and wished to vent it out but couldn't.
"What are you talking about?" Patricia's mother finally started feeling that something big had happened for her husband to be like this.
"What I am talking about?!?! Ask that daughter of yours what she did!!!"
Patricia's mother looked at Patricia and Patricia turned pale.
"What did you do, Patricia?" she asked.
"…"
"Answer me."
Patricia lowered her head.
"Patricia!!! Answer me!!!"
Patricia flinched.
Her mother held her chin and made her look up, "What did you do? Tell me honestly."
Patricia hiccupped.
Though her parents rarely get mad at her, when they do, it is definitely scary.
She only asked one of their people to get those shots of her and Harmony in that overpass. Obviously, she won't tell her parents what they did but now, she could only speak or else she would end up in a worse situation.
Slowly she opened her lips and told them what exactly happened before she was bullied.
Her mother sighed in exasperation, "And you only planned to tell me that you were bullied without telling me what exactly you did for you to be bullied."
"Mom, it's because…"
"You could do anything dear but you have to take responsibility for it. Yet now, the family is facing problems because of your actions and I had to force you to tell me what you did. Do you understand what I am saying?"
Patricia looked at her father.
"The company is currently facing bankruptcy," he said.
He is angry but he could not do too much to his daughter. They love her too much to hurt her more than he already did.
Her mother covered her mouth in shock when she heard it.
"Was it a company from City S?" she asked after a bit.
He nodded, "I don't know who among those children had such a connection. But we will have to leave this city and start somewhere else. At this moment, we can only start anew, maybe abroad."
Patricia suddenly felt completely remorseful, "Dad… I…"
Her father sighed heavily, "Pack everything and get ready to leave. The family you went up against won't stop until the business goes under. That much I can tell for what happened in just a day."
The pressure was immense and most companies they were collaborating with were backing out one after another.
Their stocks were dropping at an alarming rate and if they prolonged this, they would lose everything.
"I just hope that you, young lady would learn from this. What did you do to the family? I am utterly disappointed," he said before stepping out.
Her mother stood up.
"Mom…"
"I wouldn't be as disappointed as I am now if you did not utter such a hideous lie. And to think you even did such a hideous thing while running away from the responsibility? Even though I did say that I don't care what you do I did not expect that you could do this much."
"Mom," Patricia reached out to hold her mother's hand.
"Pack up and get ready."
After that, she left the room.
Patricia felt like the world was crashing down.
Not because they are losing all their money but because instead of getting mad, her parents showed nothing but disappointment. This reaction is more painful than receiving their ire.
"What… have I done?" she cried.
