Chapter 80: Day To Day Life II

After talking with Clara and once she got home, Harmony started messaging someone.

Knowing full well that people like Clara wouldn't stop with just a warning.

'Take that person out of here. I don't need any additional things to do.' - H

'This is a first.'

'About what?' - H

'You did not say anything about the bullying.'

'That was a children's fight. It is easier to stop that.' - H

'And this is not? She is the same age as you.'

'What of it? She grew up in the environment of City S—the most prosperous city in this country, where all snakes and hyenas alike stay.' - H

'You're saying that people who grew up there are just shrewd.'

'Don't twist my words.' - H

'But you could just go back. Wouldn't that be easier for you? Instead of following what that person laid to trap you?'

'I only do this because I have no desire for that person to feel triumphant. And my body may not be able to keep up if I receive more of their ire. I'll continue following the lines they all placed in front of me.' - H

'Seriously, Hymn suits you a lot. You go along with them like a musical sheet that the instruments follow.'

'Maybe.' - H

'Suit yourself. Anyway, what do you want me to do with that person? Should I just cut everything off?'

'And Ice suits you a lot as well.' - H

'Enough with the names.'

'Just don't let anyone know. I need a breather.' – H

Remembering the bullying and the fact that she was called back by her father, she wanted to have a breather from that.

'Very well. You should have told me about the last time first.'

'I can handle that much ire.' - H

'And now?'

'Emotions change.' - H

She was swayed more than she thought by Beatrice and the rest. She felt everything more now; she could no longer just ignore it.

'I knew something was going on with you.'

'Just help me now.' - H

'Fine, fine.'

'Someday, I will surely support you in any way I can.' - H

'We are not in a give-and-take situation.'

'I know.' - H

"What do you mean I should back out? Didn't we just speak moments ago about the step we should take against her?" Clara was fuming mad.

She felt embarrassed that she actually felt fear toward Harmony—someone who was nothing.

When she snapped out of it a while ago, all she felt was embarrassment.

Her family was among the top. How dare such a woman look down at her like she was inferior?

That was why she asked her family to check into her more and see how she could make use of her. No longer taking a soft approach.

But just a few hours after that, they were telling her that the plan was canceled and that she should just return.

"I have not yet done anything, and you are telling me that it is already canceled?"

"Just get back here. That person is indeed not as simple as we all thought."

"Huh? What does that even mean? I need to get close to him no matter what—that is the only way for our family to rise in ranks."

"Enough! Get back here this instant."

She could no longer argue after hearing the firmness in her father's voice.

Her father sighed, "I don't know who she is, but we already received a blow, and the reason was that we were in her way."

"What… do you mean by 'blow,' Dad?"

"Our stocks have fallen in just a few hours. It is not remarkable enough to cause major concern, but if they are capable of such a thing in such a short amount of time, then they are much scarier."

Clara could not believe her ears.

"Just leave that place. Let's not take risks."

Breaching their security and exploiting their weaknesses to drop their stocks wasn't an easy task. But someone did it—someone was able to do it.

The moment they started looking into Harmony again, it was like a virus was triggered and expanded, causing such an effect.

Soon, words came out.

'Stop or drop.'

Three simple words, but the head of the Fitzgerald family wouldn't take risks.

"No! I finally got the chance to meet him—how can I back out now? Being close to her means being close to him," Clara insisted, stubborn as ever.

"Clara!! Do you wish to cause trouble for the family?" her father berated.

"But how can I get closer to her level? You know full well, Dad, that my dream is to surpass Wynter Morgrave!!"

Her father pinched the space between his brows.

Clara had always desired to surpass Wynter ever since she was a child. After all, Wynter was the picture-perfect lady who commanded attention wherever she went. And Clara desired that attention.

But he couldn't let her have her way this time.

"No. Enough with this plan. It won't work, and we will only incur losses. Return now—right this instant."

Clara gritted her teeth. She couldn't let this chance go. She was able to take a step closer to getting near Shawn—how could she just leave?

"Clara, listen to me. If you still won't return, then prepare never to return to the family again."

Clara's eyes went wide, "Dad…"

"I am telling you—I don't know who is backing that young lady, but we can't afford to risk it for what you desire. Return now. We can find other ways to get you what you desire—but not this way."

Clara could only purse her lips and do what her dad said.

She was so close.
