Ryker's POV
I could see Mira's eyes rolling around, her breath ragged as it dawned on her that she had been defeated. Then, without warning she got up in a dynamic style and then took to her heels.
Without thinking twice about it, forgetting the pain eating deep into my system, I charged forward, forcing my legs to move. She was fast, but I wasn't about to let her escape, not after all she's done, not when I was close to finding out about Asher's plan.
As I ran after her, my muscles screamed in protest, the effect of the wolfsbane was getting worse, but I kept on moving. Giving up wasn't in my dictionary.
Just as I was about to grab her, I was interrupted by a blur of movement.
There was no time for me to react; all I felt was a force bumping into me, pulling me and sending me flying backwards.
I barely maintained my footing, raising up my head to a fierce golden eyes standing in between Mira and I
