Priya, on the other hand, looked at him with indifference. She had seen him before from a distance but had never spoken to him. Now that they stood face-to-face, an awkward silence settled between them.
"You seem lost in thought. Is something on your mind?" Ayush finally chose to break the silence, hoping to ease the awkwardness between them.
"No… nothing…" Priya shook her head, denying it.
"If you have nothing to do, come with me," Ayush said with a smile, extending an invitation.
"Where…?" Priya was startled for a moment upon hearing Ayush's unexpected invitation.
"Uh… just come with me. I'll show you something interesting," Ayush said after pondering for a while, not revealing anything directly.
As Priya hesitated for a moment, curiosity flickered in her eyes. Ayush, without waiting for further questions, turned around and gestured for her to follow.
After a brief moment of silence, she sighed and then walked behind him, noticing that he was carrying a strange bag.
They passed through the palace corridors, moving past guards who barely paid them any attention.
Soon, they reached a secluded terrace, high above the palace. The evening breeze was cool and refreshing, rustling Priya's hair as she looked around.
Ayush took out a strange cuboid object from the bag.
Priya had never seen anything like it before. The unknown object had small blades attached to it, and it looked far too advanced to be something crafted in their world.
"What… is that…?" Priya asked, her brows furrowed in confusion.
Ayush smiled but didn't answer her immediately. Instead, he placed the device on the wall and took out three more objects from the bag, handing one of them to Priya.
"Wear this," Ayush said as he handed her a VR headset that connected to the drone's FPV (First-Person View) system.
Still confused, Priya hesitated before putting on the device. The moment she did, her entire vision shifted. She was no longer standing on the terrace, her eyes now saw the world from above, as if she were flying through the sky.
The palace rooftops, the gardens, the distant guards—all of it appeared before her eyes in real time, as if she were a bird soaring over the kingdom.
She gasped. "This… this is like having the eyes of an eagle!"
Ayush chuckled, watching her reaction. "Something like that."
Priya turned her head in different directions, and the view changed accordingly. It was as if she controlled the movement of whatever was flying.
"Is this… magic?" Priya asked, lowering the headset slightly, her eyes filled with both amazement and suspicion.
Ayush simply smirked. "Does it matter?"
Priya narrowed her eyes but didn't press further. Something about this felt unnatural, beyond anything she had ever seen. Yet, despite her lingering doubts, she couldn't deny the excitement bubbling within her.
For the first time in a long while, she found herself fascinated by something other than grief.
And Ayush, watching her reaction, smirked inwardly.
Perfect.
Ayush watched Priya closely, a smirk playing on his lips as he observed her reaction. The flicker of awe in her eyes didn't escape him.
"You're amazed, aren't you?" he said, his voice filled with quiet confidence.
Priya hesitated, still adjusting to the surreal experience. "This… how is this even possible? This feels like flying. But it's not magic, is it?"
Ayush chuckled. "Not magic. Something… far better."
Without another word, he grabbed a small controller-like device from his bag. With a flick of his fingers, the drone shot forward at an incredible speed, cutting through the evening sky like a hawk on a hunt.
Priya gasped. Through the VR headset, she saw the palace shrinking beneath her as the drone soared higher. The vast kingdom spread out below, villages, forests, rivers, everything was visible as if she had been lifted into the sky.
Ayush controlled the drone with precise movements, making it dive and weave through the towers of the palace, dodging obstacles with incredible agility. Then, with a sudden flick, he pushed it toward the outer city, far beyond the reach of any normal scout.
Priya clenched her fists. "This… this could be used for scouting. You can see enemy movements without them ever knowing!"
Ayush glanced at her, pleased by how quickly she grasped its significance. "Exactly."
He then pushed the drone to its limit, making it zoom across the forests surrounding the kingdom, reaching a speed that would be impossible for even the fastest of messengers.
"Watch this." Ayush said, increasing the drone's altitude.
Priya, through the headset, saw something incredible, deep in the forest, a group of armed men was gathered near a fire, their weapons glinting under the moonlight.
"Bandits," Ayush muttered. "Or spies. Either way, they're not supposed to be here."
Priya's breath hitched. "You… you can see them from this far away?"
Ayush smirked. "Not just see them."
He pressed another button, switching the drone's view to thermal mode. The figures now glowed in bright red against the cold blue of the night, their body heat making them impossible to hide.
Priya slowly removed the headset, turning to look at Ayush with a complicated expression.
"This… this is the first time , i ha've seen ever." She looked inside the vr headset and said.
Ayush met her gaze. "And it's only the beginning, and with this you can even see them in the night also.."
And then Ayush let her enjoy the ride of virtually with the help of the drones.
