The feeling of agony, like being repeatedly pounded hard with a hammer in one's head, is the usual for Zander.
As a capable and strong Esper, he was always leading in the front of his team, attacking and using his powers more than the others.
While enduring the the gnawing pain in his head, he has to move his body to fight, while also exhausting his will to think about his team's safety and next move.
After his training with the team, he would always force himself to drink down the numbing Guiding drug.
Their first battle inside the portal, where they need to face the strongest creatures, was grueling for him and his team without a Guide.
After the exhausting fight, all of them are overclocking or approaching it.
Who would have thought that them, newly graduated Espers, would be used as dummies for the Guide test? It was as if luck was gracing them with favor today.
The bloodied and messy Espers immediately started cleaning themselves to not scare the Guides who might purge the pain out of their systems.
When Zander walked inside the examination room, he, who wasn't much a beliver, had a small prayer inside his head: For a Guide to approach and help his team, even if they're compatibility is low.
He rather endure the pain of low compatible Guiding than the aching of his powers eating his insanity little by little.
Like a prayer heard, one did approach.
Maelynn sitting on his lap and kissing his lips, pouring Guiding energy in him and soothing his soul, felt like a drug.
A drug so addicting Zander can't help but grab her neck to deepen their connection.
He felt tendrils of energy slowly but steadily eradicating the corruption in his mind, devouring it in its light.
Zander's head leaned, trying to occupy Maelynn's lips as long as possible but a strong hand grasped his hair, pulling his head hard.
He felt like he left the sanctuary that gave his soul some peace the moment their lips parted.
'Dangerous. So this is what the seniors are talking about.' Zander, who became slightly clear-headed, dazedly thought.
"Give me some time to breathe." Maelynn felt like her breath was stolen away, which is actually the case because Zander just wouldn't stop chasing her lips.
So she sternly ordered, staring at the focusing pupils of the man who slowly nodded. Seeing that Zander finally kept his calm, she kissed his lips again, concentrating the Guiding energy to cleanse his corruption.
With a hand on his hair, Maelynn would lightly pull it the moment he tried to go overboard, and if the Esper wouldn't listen, she would stop the flow of guiding.
With that, Maelynn thoroughly cleansed Zander's overclock.
She didn't know how much time she took guiding Zander, but it must have took a longer time considering that she was feeling the intense stares at her direction.
The moment she finished, she took a sigh.
Maelynn thought that guiding was easy but one needs to actually put some force and concentration to finish it. 'It was Aunt's fault. Why does it looks easier when she does it?'
Maelynn ignored the poking feeling in her thighs and calmly stood up from Zander's lap.
"Zander's done. Who's up next?" She turned to look at the table, only to see Team 13's aversive eyes.
A lot of eyes were on her, most are Espers who were looking intensely and some Guides who were staring at her with shock.
"Seems like we have a capable new Guide in here." Adar, who was supposed to supervise the Espers was near beside Maelynn, alongside Henry who was noting down something in his tablet.
"Shut it, Adar." Henry put down his hand and stared at Zander's flushed face with a bit of sympathy.
"Don't worry, Esper. It's natural reaction. Since candidate #6 has finished guiding you, you can exit the examination room and take a Overclocking measurement." Henry guided.
Zander nodded his head and stood up. He felt a little embarrassed that he was aroused but he bowed his head to Maelynn, who was still looking at his silent team members.
"Thank you for your guidance, Guide Maelynn. I'll leave my teammates' care to you."
"I'll do my best, since this is also a test for me." Maelynn nodded at him before looking at the four men left at Team 13's table.
"So... Who's next?"
Aki, who was mostly silent, immediately raised his hand.
"Me."
Xio, Zio, and Flynn was a beat slower and they stared at Aki's shameless face.
Flynn noticed the red in the man's ear and he relented. 'Fine, Aki's also a damage dealer anyway.' He grumbled and put down his hand. The same happened with the twins.
Seeing that their decision was made, Maelynn approached Aki's seat.
